The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Urg P90x!

I don't usually get annoyed at people in the gym, usually I'm in my own little world concentrating on what I need to do. But, today URG! I lifted at the "fitness center" down the street from my work ( not where I've been going lately ). There were all these little scrawny guys jumping around on the benches, doing body weight quarter squats while making weird arm movements,... Then other scrawny guy walked up and said "are you doing P90X, dude"... "Yeah dude".... "Dude, that's sick!" and they both made some dorky arm movement at each other. You've got to be kidding me, it made me want to puke.

Thank God I don't have to deal with too much of that at my gym in the early am. Every once in a while, though......

What are these arm movements that they were doing? I am curious so that I can pick out the P90 crew at the gym...

That program is good for some people, just like Crossfit and a lot of other popular workouts - but for most of us on here it would be a poor choice for a training regimen.

I don't understand why everyone hates on P90X. It's a good program. It's the most legitmate mass-advertised program out there.

Not everyone shares your goals, so not everyone will share your fitness philosophy.

Fat people = allowed to do P90x
Skinny people = not allowed to do P90x

I like CrossFit. I think it's a wonderful long-term health regimen. How is P90X different, aside from it not being free?

It's on TV, so it MUST suck.

the nut hugging on this forum is amazing. if a not-so-respected member posts anything about noobs at the gym bothering them, even without making any sort of communication or interference at all, you get a chorus of "dude worry about your own workout, why do you let what others do bother you???"

But when a big bad WBB "regular" posts about it everyone feels the need to go "yeah man i agree I HATE THE NOOBS. They always distract me by doing curls on the other side of the room!!! I just shake my head and proceed to do my next set of ATG SQUATS!!!!"

I would actually concur with this statement to a degree. It happens a lot, but most people around here are pretty good guys.

ATG is the core exercise of P90X.

LOL. Cool, I'm a WBB regular. I never said anything about hate or noobs. It was about P90X guys making me want to puke. There's nothing wrong with "noobs" as long as they're squatting and deadlifting, just like everybody should be. None of these high bodyweight squats.
