    Help dropping a weight class

    Hey everyone. I will be competing in the PA state BP finals in May and Im currently weighing in at ~200. Ive always competed in 181s and my weight never really surpassed 185. After about 8 months of training/bulking, im at my current weight. I know that if I can compete at 181, I have a pretty good chance at finishing high, but at 198 the comp is really tough. I have experience in competing so im not looking to compete for that alone. So I guess my question is do you think that cutting that much weight is doable in that time period? And if so, whats a good way of cutting w/o sacrificing too much strength? I never had to cut before so im clueless on this matter. Thanks guys.

    how long is the weigh in time, 2 hours before? 12 hours? 24 hours?

    jay fry went from 200 to 181 to 200 in a 24 hour way in, but took some "work"
    i can drop 10lbs and put it back on in 12 hours and 5 lbs in 2 hours with water manipulation.
    if i were you i wold try to get to 190 before you start cutting water then drop 9lbs of water before weigh in.

    Weigh ins are the day of, so a few hours beforehand.

    Im really not experienced in water deprivation. How would that effect your strength when weigh ins are a few hours before? I hear of Body builders who are totally wasted of energy due to the deprivation of water when drying out. I know its not as drastic, but I would think it can rob valuable strength.

    That's pure craziness! I'm not criticizing or anything, but that makes me glad I'm 308+, lol. It sounds like torture.

    well the idea is to dehydrate your self at weigh ins then rehydrate to the same level or more before you started which wont effect strength, i would only recommend losing 5 pounds of water if they are the day of, you should be able to rehydrate to that level quickly.
    pretty easy to do that, just cut your water off on your last meal the night before, dont eat or drink anything till weigh in then drink allot of water, then gatoraide then a carbed/salt breakfast, enough to fill you up but not to much were you puke, then continue carb loading till you finish all your lifts.

    Thanks hawk. Sounds like a good plan. I figured I can gradually lose 12-15 hopefully then try water deprivation for the rest. I might actually try and dehydrate then rehydrate 5 pounds next week and see how I feel on my ME bench day. Thanks again.

    best thing to due to figure out how much water weight you loose over night is weigh your self after your last meal, then in the following morning after you pee.
    1 gallon of water = about 8lbs.
