The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Felt pretty good today. Maybe I'll take a week off of the BBB work every cycle to give my tri's a rest each cycle.

    Cycle 9, Week 3

    Squat

    airx10
    barx10
    135x5
    205x5
    230x3
    260x4

    Band Assisted Chin Up

    5,5,5,4,4

    Sit Up

    15,15,10,10,10

    Notes:

Pretty happy with the squats. I can't remember the last time I've squatted that much so I was a bit concerned but the first 3 came up easy. The 4th was a bit of a grinder. Not sure if I want to start going up 5lbs or keep going up 10lbs.

    Cycle 9, Week 3

    OHP

    barx10x2
    95x3
    115x5
    130x3
    145x2

    145x1 Bonus
    145x1 Bonus

    OHP BBB

    81x10x5

    Notes:

I think I'm going to reset my OHP cycle down to 80% and go for another run. Although that would put me down at a starting weight of 125 which would be pretty low so I may go 85% or 90%.

Thanks OR. I really felt them this week. Still sore today in fact. But I think I'm going to do a deload and bump it up 10 to see how long I can keep going up 10 each cycle.

    Cycle 9, Week 3

    Deadlift

    135x5x2
    205x3
    280x5
    315x3
    355x4

    BB Curl

    80x6,5,4

    Notes:

Pushed deadlift out a day because I was pretty damn sore yesterday after the Tuesday squats. Was still sore today but still did pretty well on the DL. That puts me at a calculated max of 402 so I wonder if I could get 4pps up. Still not sure when (if) to max out on 5/3/1. Not too worried about it right now as I seem to be increasing each cycle so I'm going to continue to ride the wave.

    Nice job on the deadlifting.

These days I'm always sore from the previous squat session on deadlift day. It doesn't matter if I have 2 or 3 full days of rest.

Thanks. I was thinking about that this morning - that I'll just have to go for it on deadlift days even if I'm sore so that I can stay on my routine days which has been working out well.

    Notes:

Haven't done a deload in a while so I feel it is time for one. The body feels a bit beat up right now. Going to go up 10lbs on squat and deadlift next cycle and am going to go down to 85% or 90% on OHP to start a new wave there.

Great effort on getting the PR on the bench!

If you are hoping to get out of your squat session later this week due to the "rapture" you'll be sadly disappointed.

    Notes:

Was out late last night and didn't get much sleep so will do deadlift tomorrow.

Went down to 85% on OHP to start the progression over. Hopefully I'll get a good ramp up with that.

    Maintaining is good too.

I don't know about you, but I'm excited that the Kings are sticking around for at least another year. I'm even more excited about all the positive talk of a new arena. I didn't get to go to any regular season games this last year, which was a huge dissapointment. I did see a couple of pre-season games though. I just got so stinkin' busy at work.

If they get a new arena built, I will definitely be checking out some live games...

I'm on the fence about the Kings. If I knew they were staying for the long haul I'd go back to being a die hard fan, but until then I find it difficult to really care about them much. I'll probably change my tune once the season starts next year and get hooked again, but as of now I find it hard to think highly of them.

I do hope we build a new arena. That will, of course, keep them around for the long haul and I can get back to being a die hard fan. I also think, if they do it correctly which is likely overly optimistic for Sacramento, that it can help to significantly revitalize downtown Sacramento which would be great.

I saw a few live games last year. I went to the Miami Heat game and sat in the lower level which was cool to see James and Wade in action up close. Those guys are extraordinary. Otherwise, the games I went to weren't near as exciting as previous years because the Kings sucked so bad it was difficult for the crowd to get into it. I liked what I saw of the Kings towards the end of the year, though, so I do have high hopes that they will play better next year. My wife went to the last game of the year against the Lakers and said it had the intensity and excitement of previous years so Sacramento fans are ready and willing to be there as long as they players, coaches, and owners are. I have the least confidence in the latter of those three.

    Notes:

No PR again today as I got 5 last time at 215. I sort of feel like I'm in an overall stall, but my BBB reps are going up so I am making some improvement however little. I figure as long as I keep working hard I'll bust through it and start moving the needle up again.
