    How Do You Warm Up?

Everyone always says to warm up before doing any exercise. How do you warm up for weights?
    Deal with it.

so not to build up lactic acid....
i do 4X6reps ex: for bench press
    1X135
    1X145
    1X185
    1X205
i do one after the other, as soon as i add the weight, i hop back on the bench. do some stretching before and after the warmup sets, then i wait about 2 minutes, or til i feel ready to start goin at it. these weights are in pounds, not kg's canadian

I warm up by walking down to my basement and turning on the stereo. Then I get undr the bar and start lifting.

I do, however, usually use a bunch of progressively heavier warmup sets before I hit my top weights.

on big lifts(bench, deads, squat, etc.) i just add 30lbs every set till i hit my heaviest weight.

on smaller exercises just increase weight as i go. example:

db curls i know i ca do around 4-6 reps with 60lbs so i start like this:

    30x10
    40x5
    50x5
    60x5
and maybe if 60s felt ok ill add another set in same 60s or maybe 65s.

i was waiting for you to say : then I start dancing or something. and had this picture of latty wearing leg warmers and a headband Richard Simmons style

i just do 1000m on the rowing machine and rotate the joints so that they are properly lubricated.

I dont like doing light weights to warm up but I have not yet seriously torn any muscles

Don't stretch cold muscles. You have to warmup even before you start stretching. By stretching cold muscles you have an increased chance of pulling or tearing something. Get some blood to the muscles before really stretching. I don't start stretching until after at least 2 warm-up sets.

On any upper body days I do 2 sets of dips supersetted with chins to warm up. I usually do 10 - 12 reps dips and then 6-8 reps chins. After that one warm-up set for whatever exercise I'm doing.

On leg day, I'll warm-up by doing 2 sets of light 20 rep leg ext. supersetted with light 20 rep leg curls. I usually follow this up with at least one or 2 sets of 20 rep squats with really light weight. After my first real working set is when I begin stretching.

Um, I load up the bar.

In all seriousness, I don't bother with a cardio warmup because its not necessary and I certainly don't stretch because that limits force output.

I let the iron warm me up.
