Hi, i just started working hard at lifting. Since 7th grade i've been an endurance runner, and just switched my focus. I'm about 5-11 165, long arms, legs and neck which makes me an ectomorph. I've done my research as far as workout type, sets, reps, etc. and this is what i've come up with.
Day 1: Chest/Tris
Incline DB Press
Day 2: Back/Bis
Wide grip pull ups
Day 3: Shoulders
Day 4: Legs
All are done with a warmup set then 3x8-12 with about a 2 minute rest period in between sets. I'm taking Nitrotech protein, multivitamin, Fish oil, and L-glutamine. I eat about 4 meals a day and get around 2500-3000 calories a day. I just wanted to know if 1. if i'm doing things right and 2. if theres anything else i should focus on nutritionwise, programwise, etc.
Without knowing what your goals are, it is hard to say if a routine like that could be optimal. When choosing a routine it is important that you first of all set out a clearly defined goal (short and long term) and then you need to consider your experience and training capacity.
Really what I am saying is, unless you have been training for a considerable period of time and feel that you could design a routine, why not just choose one which is better balanced and structured for now?

At your height, you want to put on at least 20. Check out the routines he posted, excellent choices for bulking. Remember to eat clean and healthy, but lots. You're going to look for about 3000-4000 cals. If you eat right, you'll put on minimum fat.
