The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    475 lb Deadlift

Just finished my workout, wasn't sure if I'd get the lift today since its a 20lb jump over last week, but I think I'm pretty close to my max now. Also I'm finally in the 1000 lb club, I just need to work on my bench now. Heres the vid, im @ 183 BW:

    Stats:
    Bench: 220
    Squat: 350
    Deadlift: 555
    Total: 1125

Great lift, just curious though... when I posted a video up here of my DL everyone was like tsk tsk too much back rounding. 2 replies from 2 top lifters and no mention of this? Was this good form? It looked like a lot of back rounding to me.

You will have rounding to a certain extent on upper limit lifts. As long as the position is kept tight, and corrected toward the top end of the lift, there's not any more risk of injury.

Thanks for the reply, I was a little worried about that after watching the video but I realized that its my upper back that is slightly rounded which I think is not so bad (correct me if I'm wrong) but the lift felt solid. A few months ago I accidently rounded my lower back on a max attempt and it felt like crap and I knew right away. So I guess if you know how to deadlift properly, then you are the best judge when it comes to keeping the lower back straight because sometimes its hard to tell in a video unless its really obvious.

I don't do dead lifts (only squats) but wasn't your back a little rounded?

That's like saying how do you leg press 400 lbs, but only barbell curl 60 lbs? Deadlift and bench are very different lifts and usually if someone is real good at one, they aren't too good at the other.

Yeah, great job man. You do a good job of fighting through that lockout without hitching it.
