    Gaining Muscle but not gaining weight?

    Since I started doing strength exercises (6 months ago) I have gained muscle but strangley enough haven't gained a pound. I can lift much more and do more sit-up, push-ups (and I have more muscle mass), yet I maintain my 127 lbs (5"10) weight.
    Could I possibly be doing something wrong or have any problem?

    Situps and pushups are not strength exercises.

    I'm only an inch taller than you, and if I ever approached 130 lbs., I'd have already checked into an anorexia clinic. Do your body a favor and learn how to eat properly. I promise that is your problem, and that you likely don't have any sort of training program.

    I'm just naturally skinny and hoping to gradually gain weight.

    You eat "plenty"? You weigh 127lbs, you do not eat even close to plenty. Use www.fitday.com and track what you eat for a few days, I guarantee it's under 3000 calories.

    And don't give me the naturally skinny line, I started at 130-135lbs and have to eat 6000 calories every day just to slowly gain weight.

    You do not eat plenty. That is why you are underweight.

    If you want to gain weight, eat more. There is no way around that.

    DUDE! I'm 5'10" and I'm 205lbs. Holy **** man! 127lbs? Thats a problem!
    Eat more, at your weight/height, you can afford to gain some fat. Eat TONS, anything not bolted down.
    That will be your problem too, you body needs lots of proteins, carbs, and nutrients to build a healthier and bigger body. If you lift heavy, and eat lots, you'll start gaining.

    Hey, lespaul, I agree. I'm 6' and was 125#. I ate 4000 cals per day and maintained my bodyweight. I lifted through jr. high and high school, basically at the same weight. I got stronger, but not heavier. It means that you're eating enough to maintain. You really need to pound down the food in order to gain weight. Write down everything you eat for a week and then add the cals/protein/carbs/fats to it (using a calorie book) and see how much you're actually eating (fitday.com will work, too). Once you see how much you're eating per day and week, then add 500 cals per day and see if in a week or two you don't add some lbs. If not, add another 500 cals per day and see if that gets you to put on some weight.

    It doesn't matter what the number is right now. What matters is that you eat more than whatever that number is.

    127 pounds is small as hell, eat more and lift as heavy as you can without sacrificing form.

    I would eat something every other hour while awake. 127lbs is not healthy.

    Man, i never count the calories. I eat every 2 hours, and drink 1 glass of milk every hour. Thats definitly a lot.

    Get a weight gainer and a good post workout protein shake. You need to eat more and get as many calories as possible. At Large Nutrition has some great products so look at what they have, but if you dont have a credit card or any way to buy from internet, go down to your nearest GNC and sign up for a gold card and they can reccomend something for you.

    *Shudder* the thought of drinking GNC's whey protein makes me want to throw up.
    Maybe they've changed their recipe over the years, but I remember there were many occasions in highschool when my protein shake came right back up after I got done chugging it.

    The ones I use are fine. I mean your not going to find a weight gainer or whey protien that tastes wonderful but their not too bad. Drinkable is the word.

    Weight gainers are fine I guess but the best way to get your calories up is to up your fat. You can ensure you're getting your protein along with a lot of calories by simply eating red meat, whole eggs, and nuts and/or peanut butter among other things.

    As others have said, figure outwhat you eat now. From there, add 100 calories every two weeks. Your body can't just all of the sudden start ingesting 2000 more calroies a day. Try things like whole milk, oats, whatever you can to increase yoru calories.

    This is a good idea if you want to stay skinny forever.

    If you insist on counting calories, add 500 calories to your daily caloric intake for a week. If your weight doesn't increase by the end of the week, add more.

    But honestly, I wouldn't even worry about counting calories. You are at an unhealthy weight. Just eat more.

    Slowly upping your total kcals is one of the best ways of controlling body fat while on a bulk. But at 127 lbs, I dont really think you should worry :P
