The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    11/2 Bench 531

Decided to start 531 for my bench. It helped my DL and Squat, so I know it works. Getting my RAW number up will only help my shirted numbers.

    Starting with a 355 1RM (was 385 )
    (90%)=320
    135x5
    155x5
    185x5
    210x5
    240x5
    270x12

    DB Incline
    90s x15
    90s x14

    Wide Grip Pullups
    BW x15x3

    Rolling DB Extensions
    25s x50

Not used to this high rep crap haha, but felt good. Got my pump on. I might switch it around to my bench assist day though.

We'll talk. I'm actually doing 5/3/1 in conjunction with my shirt work. I'm going to see how it works out his cycle. Next week I'm in my shirt (was supposed to be this week but since we didn't have a crew I had to switch it around). So far I like the way it's setup. 2 weeks raw, 1 week shirt till about 8 weeks out when it switches to 2 weeks shirted one week raw. I can help you plan it if you want to give it a run with me.

It's tough starting out at 10% less then your actual 1RM, and then basing percentages off that. The weight just feels too damn light. But after a few months, it all starts to make sense just why that is important to do that. Have fun!

Thats what I wanted to do Tone, talk with you about it and see what you thought. I dont want to abandon shirt work , but incorporate both together.

Damn Brian sorry about your back. Trust me, I've dealt with crap like this for years so I know what you're going through. I usually tweak mine on the dumbest crap too. Do you have access to a reverse hyper? That thing has been a training saver for me. Chiro helped some too. Heal up man.

Too bad about the Phillies... Cubs in 2010!!!

Definately need something new for bench Tone, but the assist days are basically just speed bench and accessory work. Its never effected me before.

    11/12 531 bench week 2 cycle 1, squats

In San Diego for the Birds/Chargers game until Monday night so I got hooked up with World Gym out here and would like to get there at least twice between drunken episodes haha
    531 Bench
    bar x a mil
    135x10
    185x5
    205x5
    225x3
    250x3
    285x8
    l

    Close Grip Pushdowns
    100x15
    130x8
    130x8

    Squats
    135x10
    225x5
    315x5 <belt
    405x4
    455x2
    515x0
    495x1

    Seated Cable Rows
    220x10x3

Got in and did what I needed. I was happy with the bench considering the HUGE hangover I had. Squats were HEAVy going up too. A little too big of a jump and missed 515 coming out of the hole. Dropped to 495 for a single and called it a day. Id like to get DLn in too this week there, so will see how it goes.
