The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Outstanding performance and an American record if you don't mind!? Absolutely on for the 2k plus once you get the technicalities you were talking about ironed out.

Soooo, when is the next meet? I know you know, lol.
Haha thanks Justin. I like that shirt! Probably the next full meet wont be until Dec 1st. But im thing of a bench only before that. 600 will go up dammit! Hah

    Squats
Warmups felt great and everything was moving fast. Basically took plate jumps up to 685.
1st attempt- 745, 3 white lights. Felt light unracking it, and was smooth sailing from beginning to end. Just used knees sleeves for it.
    Video

2nd attempt- 805, 3 reds. Decided to just use the sleeves again instead of wrapping. Felt ok unracking, but knees got a little forward coming out of the hole and pushed me forward. Simple fix.

3rd Attempt- 805 2 white lights. 40-44 UPA American Record. This time I wrapped my knees and felt a little unsteady when I unracked. Once I got going, I hit the hole and it came up nice.
    Video

    Bench
Again warmups felt good and fast. Worked up to a 525 1 brd.

1st attempt- 565, 3 reds. GRRR. A lift ive hit plenty. Was pressing stright up instead of back all of a sudden. Just bad form.

2nd attempt- 565, 2 whites. A fucking grinder!.. Again, just bad form. Didnt ride he sleeves at all, and muscled it up instead...blah.
    Video

3rd attempt- 600, 3 reds. Pffffft. Stapled on chest. just didnt have it today.

    Deadlifts
I tweaked my back pretty good on the first bench, and afterwards waiting around to pull, it really started to tighten up. I stretched it out as good as I could, but it was pretty sore. I was to open at 525, but I dropped it to 500 just to ensure a total. Warmups were sore but bearable.

1st attempt- 500, 3 whites. Easy peasey. This gave me my Elite total.
    Video

2nd attempt- 530, 3 whites. This gave me a 1900 total. Nice round number. Easy again.
    Video

3rd attempt- 575, 3 reds. Shouldve been good, but once I popped it off the floor, I felt my back and kindve pussied out on it. slowed down, the tried to get going again, but died at my knees.

So overall a good day. 1900@220 for an Elite total. 80lb PR on squat, 50lb PR on bench, and 2 UPA Master 40-44 American records in Squat and Total. I know what I need to do, and now Im gunning for my 2050 Pro total. Look out boys!

Awesome work on that meet, Brian!

Cos of your proportions, you hardly look like you have to move on the squat, haha! Up-down-done!

Great work fighting that bench back up too!

Thats it after the meet. Pretty sore still, especially in the back. Basically went in mostly to give a hand with the crew.

I think the Eagles had a decent draft. Fletcher Cox looks like a beast and the LB from UCLA I thought looked really good. He plays fast. Everyone is saying Vinny Curry was a great pick at DE, so I guess we will see. Demeco Ryans was a huge addition and with the team actually having an offseason I think they can fix most of the problems. I really wish we traded up for Barron or Luke Kuechly though.

fantastic meet.. grats on your elite total. 1900 @ 220 is sick... you need to get that DL up over 6 bills, it's the only thing keeping you from 2k. With your squat strength, you should be there. Time to do work!!

Pretty good bud. Turns out I have a case of fistula (small tear in my inner ear) thats messing with my equillibrium. Had symptoms a few weeks before the meet, but ignored them. Feeling better. Took this week off, and I cant train Sat/Monday because of family/work issues, so im using the extra time to rest. Hopefully this passes and ill be starting back next week.

Feels like forever since I trained. Took the week off due mostly to a health issue, so hopefully all is ready to go. Ill be lifting raw for a bit to get those numbers up following the Prillipin principle. Split will be a little bodybuildish with conditioning work. Need to get in better shape. Will go something like this:
    Sun-off
    Mon-Bench/heavy tris
    Tues-cond work/abs
    Wed-Deadlift/lower back/legs
    Thurs-Shoulders/upper back/bis
    Fri-off
    Sat-Squat/cond work/abs

This week, I have to bench tomm due to work issues, so ill bench then duesome conditioning also.

Sorry to hear you were ill, Brian. I hope your ear has healed up well. Strong raw benching. Rock solid.

I will be doing some raw work after this next comp. I will have 14 weeks until my next one. Is Tone flat out busy these days? I dont want to hassle him if he is. I know I had previously mentioned about working out some programming with him and I would still be very interested in doing that if he would be too.
This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy - George Bernard Shaw

Pretty good day back. I learned what probably is holding me back on sumo, so thats great progress. (need to lock knees out earlier. Im moreso squatting it up) Felt a ton better after ther adjustment. But slow, so I need to incorporate raw speed work too. The prowler fucking sucks lol. Thought I might die after those. Im so out of shape.
