I miscount all the time. Anything over 5 and it could end up anywhere, lol.

What way have you got the bands doubled? I have 41'' super minis which I choke at both ends (one end on a DB on the floor) I tried doubling them but it nearly sliced me in two. I need to figure out some way to use them round the bench.
Thanks Flynny. I attach one to the bar, then loop it under the DB and back up to the bar. I dont choke them at all.

Huge pull, big guy! A hot tub must have felt awesome after that ****. Not sure if you saw my reply, but I miscounted my attempt too but it was the opposite of what you did. I swore I did 9 but I really did 10 once I watched the video again. Strong lifting, buddy. Looked like you had 2 more in you to win the challenge.

    135x5

    225x5
    250x5
    285x3
    320x3

    Pin Press(5in lockout)

    405x5
    455x3

    DB Press
    100s x12x2

    CSR (Neutral Grip)
    4 plates x10x2
    4p +25x6

Cable OH Tri Ext s/s Rope Pulldowns
    150x15 s/s 150x10
    150x15 s/s 150x8
    150x10 s/s 120x8

Blah fukin blah. New shift at work gets me to the gym about 9pm. Im useless at night. Just didnt feel it and crawled around the gym(Im so depressing). Not having heavy weight in my hand from doing 531 seems to be effecting my bench I think. That accompanied with not taking ANY type of supplement in like 3 months or so. Pulls and Skwats are gaining though on 531, so I dont know. Really have to analyze my bench training. Just funny that I was stronger on the bench when I weighed 175(335x5@175).........

The benching/pressing and what not appears to fall short compared to the pulling and even squats for the majority of lifters. Those numbers do look damn good though man.

Nice 2x bw deads!!! Even though you are a noob and miscounted, it's still a good job! You made them f***ers look easy!!!

The hardest part about doing the 531 for someone that is used to training heavy all the time, is the whole starting light thing. Wendler even points this exact idea out, but if you stick with it and progress as planned (aka stick to the program), the results will come. I'd say hang in there, and put your faith into the program and Wendler.

Damn that's a strong bench at 175. Good to hear 5/3/1 is treating you well on your squat and pull. Why not incorporate westside principles in your bench? I know some dudes on here do that if they've gone a long time without any progress in a certain lift. Just a thought.

420x9 on deads, damn! That's good ****, bro. And did you stop because you thought you had 10 or were you out of steam? Bet you smoke that thing next time for well over 10. Bench looks great to me but I know how you feel about looking back and wondering why a lift was stronger at a different weight/age than it is now. Maybe take a look back at how you trained your upper body back then compared to now. Look at frequency of lifts, loads and environment. If it's possible do like Keith was saying and try and incorporate some of that training into the 531. Looking solid, bro.

Your right Bri. Just have to keep the mindset that its slow progression and it does work in the long run...thanks pal

Its really killing me that its been so long since I trained with you guys. Life has been making a set training schedule next to impossibe. Now, Ive been transferred at work and work 10a-6p, and 2p-10p. It just started this week, and im only down town, so I should be able to shoot up to Rocks by like 6:15-6:30 if thats cool. AND the best part is I now have off steady weekends.......which means Maryland.

Thanks a lot Keith! This actually sounds like something I might need. Im going to look into this definately. Thanks for looking out

Its so frustrating. Ill definately keep you updated if I figure anything out. Now since I can start benching with Tone again, he should be able to set me straight.

Thanks a lot K! I probably had a good 12 in me for the pulls. I was just planning to shut them down at 10 and call it a day since I was fried even before stepping in the gym that night. But apparently i can't count under pressure lol. Your right too. I need to look back on my training log and see what was working at the time.

    3/10 Squat (5,3,1) Week 3 Cycle 2

    This is just dreadful...

    185x5
    245x5
    315x5
    3580x5
    405x3
    450x2

    Leg Curls
    3 sets of 12

Thats it..... Here's the deal. I just got transferred at work and now Im back working bicycle patrol 10a-6p Mon-Fri. I cant get to the gym till 9pm until I put the kids to bed so I can see them for awhile. By the time I get there, I am just exhausted from riding that dam thing all day. Its just killing my motivation along with any strength I can muster up. 405 felt like an elephant on my back tonite, and 450 was just not moving. I had nothing to finish what I wanted to tonite, so I just left. Totally disgusted right now. Got to figure a new schedule out that will work. Thank god next week is a deload so I can adjust to this hopefully....

    (sorry for the rant)

You will only get stronger once you are back into a normal routine and fresh, your stregth levels will stay high for sure!

I used to work nights and my training was not as good as what yours is.

Thanks guys. I dont mean to whine about sh1t, its just frustrating when you cant train at 100%....weve all been through this at some point. Just going to take some adjustments and getting used to. I think im going to shift mt squat day next cycle to Saturday so Ill be able to train midday and also venture to Maryland to train with Tone and the crew.

Understandable about the training, bro. Riding around a bike all day long would take it's toll on anybody. However, you deadlift and squat a good amount of weight. I found that if I limit deadlifting to just the 555 and 531 weeks, taking off the 333 and deload weeks, I don't get crispy as quickly. You could also sub in some westside style lifts for your squat/DL movements say for your 555 and 333 weeks. Then just do the full movement on the 531 week. Something like a box-squat or rack pull. Just to keep things fresher. Good luck man.

Excellent ideas K, thanks a lot. I think this is exactly what im going to do. After today's pulling session, I definately have to change it up. Im pretty stale right now and nothing is moving.
