The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

First day back in like 2 weeks. Down 11 pounds and pretty calorie deficient in that time. Strength is about what was expected. Not much. 275 was all I was going hit for a 5 count, so I did a 5x5. Same with the shoulder presses. I couldve gone heavier with the OHs, but just did enough since I still dont have my lung capacity back to normal yet. Had a heck of a time trying to control my breathing. I guess its a start in losing some #s, just not the way I wanted to. All in due time I guess.

Nice to see you back at it. That's a lot of weight to lose in that amount of time but I have no worries you can eat your weight back up.

Good to see you back at it. Hell of a 5x5 effort on the bench, wow!

Down 11lbs too. Being The Situation is serious business.
This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy - George Bernard Shaw

    8/28 Squatz / Pullz

    15" Box Squats
    With Choked Greens( ~150)
    135x10

    315x3
    365x3x3

    Pullz

    225x8
    315x5
    405x5
    455x3
    495x1
    520x0
    520x1 PR

Got everything in today. Squats felt really good. Was determined to hit some kind of PR today to boost my confidence. 515 is my all time best pull, so 520 was the mark. First try was an epic failure below the knees. So I adjusted a few things and nailed the mutha fuka!! I have video of both attempts that ill post later. On my way out boozing now.

Wow, kickass job on the PR, Brian!! Very impressive to nail it the 2nd time around. I don't think I've ever attempted a weight after failing it the first time.

    8/30 Bench

After a good Lower ME day, benching is a different story...

    Flat
    135x12
    225x10
    275x5
    315x1
add 3 brd , pinkies on ring
    315x5
    335x1
    comp grip
    335x4

    Close Grip w/ Doubled Minis
    2 brd, thumbs off smooth
    225x3
    225x3
    225x3

    H.S. Dip Machine
    3 PPS x 15
    3+25 PPS x8
    4 PPS x5

    H.S. Seated Chest Press
    3 PPS x12
    4 PPS x5 s/s
    Staightbar Pushdowns
    1 set of 30

Tricep strength is waaaaaay down. Locking anything was a bitch today. Just really weak after the weightloss and sickness. Guess it will take some time....whatever. Weight is back up to 210 though(compared to 218 before sickness). Id like to slowly get it down in the 190s again. I was pressing almost the same weight as I was at 218, so it shoudnt effect me too much....hopefully. (key words in this statement...like to,.....i hate cutting weight. Eating is so much more fun)

Tricep strength is a huge weakness of mine, too. But like you said, it will come back nicely once you bounce back from the sickness and your weight climbs back up. Interesting to hear you're pressing nearly the same weight you were when you were in the 190s. That's almost always the first thing that's really affected from weight loss. +1 for eating!!!

Yeah bench strength usually takes a dip after weightloss, but it'll bounce right back. Good work.
