First day back after the back injury and felt better than I thought I would. Didnt want to go too crazy, and didnt have a hand off either. Felt weakish at the bottom of my presses, but thats to be expected. Was able to arch pretty good, but form needs a little tweaking. Need to figure a good raw bench program to get some order in my training. Overall im pretty happy with today. Saturday ill do some squats and pulls. That will be the true test of how im feeling. I estimate total weakness, but who knows....

Good job on the return brother!!! If your looking for a simple raw bench program you can always do 5/3/1. I really enjoyed the program and I will do it again soon.

    11/12 Squat

    Free Squat
    135x5
    225x5
    275x5
    315x5
    365x3

And that was it....Parental duties called. My daughters went to my sisters for the night and my wife took my son to a movie, so I thought I had the night to train. After the 365 set, my sister called and was at my house with my youngest who was upset and wanted to come home. So I had to leave the gym and go get her...

For what I did, of course it all felt heavy since I havent squatted in almost a month. But my back feels really good, so ill chalk today up as just a test day and start back at it fully on Monday.

Starting a new template this week for Squats and pulls. Its a modified Russian Percentage routine, but only 2 days a week instead of 3, and its extended to 8 weeks instead of 6. My split will look like this:
    Mon- Bench
    Wed-SQ/DL
    Thurs-Bench acc
    Sat-SQ/DL

Heres what the template looks like:
    ---- Day 1---- Day 2
    1- 6x2@80% 6x3@80%
    2- 6x2@80% 6x4@80%
    3- 6x2@80% 6x5@80%
    4- 6x2@80% 6x6@80%
    5- 6x2@80% 5x5@85%
    6- 6x2@80% 4x4@90%
    7- 6x2@80% 3x3@95%
    8- 6x2@80% 1x1@100%, 1x1@105%

Im going to try and Squat and pull on both days, but if it deems too much, then ill cut back on the pulls. Its going to be tough, but if I get thyrough it, it will pay off. Ill be wearing powerpants also to save on the hips a bit too. My #s will go off a 545 squat and a 520 pull. If anyone has input or critique, I will greatly appreciate it.

Hey BC, two solid sessions back. Tidy bit of benching and squatting considering you were walking with a cane not that long ago!!

I like the look of that training cycle. I will be paying close attention. Would love to try something like that myself. I am squatting and pulling on the same day. Its not nice but will only make you stronger. On meet day you will be pulling after squatting AND benching so there has to be some merit in training that way.

Glad you are properly on the mend!!

Edit: Just re-read..... Squatting and Pulling TWICE a week. Mercy. I'd be fit for natha!!

This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy - George Bernard Shaw

Hey bro, glad to see you back at it and healing up. Pretty strong bench and squatting for being pretty much disabled for the last couple weeks, damn! New template looks interesting. How did you come up with it? Think you'll be alright going 8 weeks without a deload? I'm very curious to see how it works out for you actually.

Thanks Flynny! LOL yeah twice a week bro. Its going to be brutal, but I think if I can get through it, it will do wonders for my lower efforts.

Whats up K? Thanks for the well wishes. I saw a Masters version of the Russian percentage 6 week program that was 2 days a week instead of 3, but that only was for squatting. Im adding the Pulls, so its going to be pretty tough. Ill be keeping accessory work, if any, to a minimum. If I have to deload I will. Ill just split the program in two. But the plan is to go straight through.

** As for my Bench and Upper training, I decided to go back to 531. I have to get my raw strength up again, and I believe thats whats going to do it for me. Im going to do Boring but Big, but I will alternate the 5 sets of 10 exercises each week. Ill go between flat bench, floor presses, and incline bench.

    11/16 531 Bench BBB (555)

*dropped my 1RM down to 360 since im a little weaker coming back. Ill be basing everything off of 325

    135x6
    135x10
    185x5
    210x5
    245x5
    275x10

    215x10 (60%)
    215x10
    215x10
    185x10 (50%)
    185x10

    CSR
    4 plates x12
    " x10 x2

    Rope Pressdowns
    150 x12
    150 x10 x2

Felt pretty good. My arch feels on point, and I was getting good leg drive on the 275x10. Im very happy with it. On the 5 set of 10, I started to sputter a little, so I dropped down to 50%. This should have been done yesterday, but I had to work an extra 8 hours, so no time to get to the gym.
