    12/14 Deadlift

    Rack Pulls
    just below knee
    135x5
    225x5
    315x5
    405x5
    455x3
    495x0
    moved to mid knee
    495x1 conv
    495x1 sumo
    495x1 conv (callous rip,,,ugh)

    Seated GMs
    135x15
    225x10
    275x5 x2

    HS Iso Low Row
    3 PPS x12 x3

    Wide Grip Pulldowns
    200x12 x3

I am so fed up with my pull its killing me. How I lost this much strength is beyond me. 495 below knee wouldnt even break from the pins... I wanted to hit 8 singles mid knee but ripped a dam callous. Im so pissed right now, to the point I dont even want to pull anymore(which is just a rant). I think im going to hit speed pulls with bands for awhile and see how it helps. Anyone have any ideas? Im kindve lost here. Squats and Bench feel great. Pulls are my nemesis right now.....

You'll get back into a groove with the pulling again, wish you the best.

Efforts are always solid in here, make no mistake.

Reps off 3-6" blocks, 2-4 sets of 4 or 5 reps.

These helped me big time, singles all the time just didnt help me.

4 weeks of rep work then hit a few weeks of max effort and you should be sorted IMO.

Good way to break in the new briefs too off blocks working down in height once your comfortable.

BTW I dont think speed pulls sumo are as benificial as rep work in the 80-90% but im no expert.

Ahhh the deadlift, it's such a tricky bastard sometimes isn't it? Speed pulls against bands would probably be a good idea. You'll get some confidence back pulling lighter weights with solid form and aggressive speed, and the bands should hammer your lockout. Could be a form issue too, which I think the added reps of the speed work could address.

I agree, I think speed pulls against bands can help also. Maybe you just need to drop the weight and sort of start over. Remember your circumstances, you hurt your back and you were sick, not to mention you re-injured your back. I wouldn't stress to much, IMO I would just start light and get comfortable again with the weight, your form and the lift itself.

Thanks for the advice guys. I just have to remember that im coming back from a serious injury and just need to take it slow and build it back up. Its just so frustrating as im sure all of us know at one time or another. Your support is so appreciated!

BC, I wouldnt be too annoyed considering you are just getting things back together after your injury! Bench is certainly back on track anyway. Last upper session was strong.

Nice wee squat day in the briefs BC. I bet getting down was ridiculous. 650lber very soon!!

Sucks about the ripped callus and crappy pull session, bro. You know, I honestly find rack pulls from just below the knees to be harder than a standard pull. There is no momentum, and very little leg drive at that point in the lift. Huge strain on the upper body. Take a video of your next pull session if you don't mind and let's see what you're lookin like. Where do you feel like you struggle most with the lift? What form do you use for your Squat (low/high bar, wide stance, etc.)? Also, do you do any GHR or leg curl work? And how are your lats doing? When you grab the bar, where in your hand does it sit and what are you thinking? These are things that I've noticed in my own lift. I can offer a couple tips if you like.

Thanks Flynny! I just got to chill and take my time back. Yeah it was a b1tch trying to hit parallel, prob an inch or two high still. 650 in briefs sounds real good! I hope to.

Thanks K! I definitely agree they are harder. I can only really do them conv because of sh1tty equipment. Id say I struggle most just below knee with pulls. I squat low bar wide stance. Don't have access to a GHR but do do ghetto versions occasionally. Lats are one thing that are pretty dam strong. Never had a problem there. I'll get some vid of both pulls.and squats again and post them up. Hopefully someone can spot something.

Sucks about the deadlifts man. If your still doing 5/3/1 try lowering your traing max and hitting some higher reps with decent weight. Thank god Asante is back on the field this week. Without him they just don't blitz the same. Eli has been tossing some ugly balls and I'm hoping one gets taken back for a TD.

Thanks Nick. Ill play around and get it back up eventually. Agreed about Asante. Might be a bloodbath in the backfield without him.
