    Looking for Mini Bands

    I want to buy some mini bands for benching. I have money on my paypal account that I want to spend so I would like to buy them off of ebay. Are these considered mini bands?

    no, those are Iron Woody's version of the purple bands. They are about twice the strength of the mini bands. Too much for most people to be DE benching with

    I guess you could if you think you can do it. I have the jump stretch bands and they are great. If you have money to spend i would say get them. If not i would recomend some different size jump stretch bands.

    that's still too much tension. If you have more band tension than bar weight, it looses it's effectiveness. Those bands will add around 200lbs at the top.

    You need some smaller bands

    Thank you. I can use these for squatting and deadlifting to right? Also where is a website or a video that shows how to use these?

    for deadlifting yes, squatting, no

    They don't provide enough tension for squatting.

    You really need to get a few sets of bands. They aren't crazy expensive.

    I'll get more eventually. I just don't want to go hog wild and buy a lot of stuff at once. Also, you never answered my question about how to use them for benching. I guess deadlifting to also.

    Sorry for asking so many questions because I have asked a ton on this site. I apologize if I get annoying.

    I have those #3 and they are over 150lbs at lockout on bench about a 100lbs at chest. YOu might be able to do bands only for speed lol.

    The mini bands would be best used doubled up under a dumbbell or preferably a power rack for benching.

    Deadlifting is going to be more difficult because you won't have a platform.

    You can always quad them up (double them up, then double them again) for pin pulls in the power rack. Otherwise it's going to be a pain setting them up.

    I received my mini bands in the mail yesterday. I plan on using them for my ME bench day tomorrow. Travis told me to double them up earlier in this thread. Doubling them up just means folding them in half and putting 2 ends around the bar and 2 around the dumbell on each side right?

    Yeah. Not for every ME bench session, but I would cycle them in occasionally. They would work good for full range bench and board presses, never really set them up right or liked them much for floor presses though.

    you have to quad them up for floor presses. It's a little hard if your floor press isn't over 350 or so

    I'm not going to do them everytime I'm going to add them to my cyle.

    No my floor press isn't over 350 so I'm not going to use them for floor presses yet.

    I used them today though and they kicked my @$$. I had them doubled up and I had no idea how much weight I'd be able to do. This is how the workout went.

    2x5@95
    1x5@135
    added bands
    1x5@185
    1x5@225- Tried for 5 but only got 4. I was like WTF.
    1x3@255- Couldn't even get it once.

    I realized I was doing to much weight obviously. I thought I'd be able to do that though since my raw bench is 315+. But since I failed I finished with these sets.

    1x3@200
    1x3@210
    1x1@225
    1x1@235
    1x1@245 - This one was pretty hard so I stopped here.

    If your plan is to work up to a single, why on earth would you try for a set of 5 at 225+mini bands?

    That's such a needless waste of energy
