The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

bad idea to start 5/3/1 6-7 weeks before meet??

i have a pushpull meet coming up on may 16th and i've followed a westside type template for a while but would really like to start the 5/3/1 program on the inside i feel like this is a bad idea and feel like it would be wiser to just stick with my normal template until after the meet.. i guess the main thing i'm wondering is would i get stronger on the first cycle of 5/3/1 or would it be wiser to stick to my normal stuff.. sorry if i'm sounding like a noob but yeah you guys are all accomplished and i like hearing your thoughts on things.

I think you should stick to what your doing and start the 5/3/1 routine after your meet.

5/3/1 really won't add much in that short of time being that you would only get 1 full cycle in. But its definatelty a great routine to start after the meet. It takes a few cycles to hit your stride.

yeah when i start it i'm thinking of doing conventional for a 16 week or 24 week cycle and then going back to sumo in hopes of picking up some lagging muscles, not positive if this is a smart idea though.

This is exactly what I'm doing, rotating styles. It working good for me as I want to be proficient in both types.
