The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    When Nerds Attack.....

Nerds are a modern bi-effect of the society, agressive, smart and
asocial and always with their own kind, they make a special eddition to high schools around the western world.

But are they dangerous and why are like they are?

I was just thinking about the high school killings (coloumbine high school, god bless the victims) and how the victims where popular kids, and makes me draw the conclusion that hardcore nerds went firing because they where selected last in every social aspect.

well just rambling, dont take any offence anybody, because nobody hear is anyway near how I define nerds, but I was watching a show where some experts explained how violence on tv and video games are dangerous for a young mind, well thats maybe true, but being the high school nerd is the most dangerous.

I would think that as a whole, more agression/hazing/violence is committed by jocks and popular kids than by nerds.

I could give all to Time except - except
What I myself have held. But why declare
The things forbidden that while the Customs slept
I have crossed to Safety with? For I am There,
And what I would not part with I have kept.

I think the killings of Columbine reflect on society as a whole, the problem with classes, cliches. I had friends in highschool that were huge fans of KMFDM and wore black trench coats well before the Columbine incident. After the incident they were no longer allowed to wear trenchcoats to school. I agree with IceRrrl, I think there is a lot more harm done by the jocks. Bullying is a huge problem in schools. I think the killings were a result of this problem between cliches, jocks and nerds, it was bound to happen sometime. Nobody deserved to die but hopefully the incident taught everyone a valueable lesson.

Cmon now, obviously shootings like the one that occured in Columbine made many of us scratch our heads and wonder, but the fact is those kinds of incidents are not common ones.

Rock, I think you've pinpointed what everyone has known since the dawn of civilization.. Nerds are ostracized, then miss out totally on social growth, then people wonder why they go postal...

I learned a lot from it. I was always very popular in highschool and, although I demonstrated a positive christian attitude and did my best to be nice to everyone, after Columbine I realized that maybe I wasn't nice enough. I started thinking that if I was contributing to making someone feel like they were so different from me or my friends that they were urged to seek vengeance on anyone... then I wasn't being nice enough. I learned that even though I treat people equally, if someone else isn't treating them with the same respect- then I'm not doing my job as a friend or classmate. I learned to not just say hello and smile... but to actually get to know people and spend time with them, so that maybe I can be that one friend that someone would KILL to have.

One of the things I remember most after the Columbine incident was something that a lot of the media brushed over. That the guys doing the shooting had recently left even the trenchcoat crowd. Even geeks form groups, it's when peoples safety nets (whatever they may be) break down that people start to crack. no person Jock or geek can be sane without some sort of emotional group to relate to.

Well, I watched this show on the high school killings and they concluded that violent video games was one of the main factors, but come on, its the nerd factor that made them kill.

theres not as much of a split in my school as you seem to describe.
yes theres a popular group and an unpopular group which are quite separate, but the unpopular kids dont seem to realise they are viewed as such and they are a big enough group to be social amongst themselves you know.

    It's all relative.

I can view you as unpopular, and you can view me as unpopular, yet we can both view ourselves as popular.

Well, when I said popular... I was referring to the "Breakfast Club"/"Saved By The Bell" type of popular. Like the Kelly Kapowski type of popular... hangs out with the jocks, drives mommy's mercedes, cheerleader type of popular you know? Not to say that I fit that description entirely, but that was how I was percieved I think.
I think a lot of it has to do with the size of the school. I went to a very large highschool so, for the most part, I think there were just too many cliques and niches for a person to fit into... so pretty much everyone had someone... but of course there are always exceptions.

"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"
