The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Are you supposed to flare your elbows out, or keep them in tight? I've heard it doesn't matter, both ways hit your tri's.

I must be doing my close grip benches really close then because when I put my thuimbs out they touch.
There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman. Some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me. Only an entity --something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there. - (American Psycho)

8 inches apart is waaaaay to close for me.If ya want sore wrists go ahead .Myself I like 12 inches between index fingers on the bar.Close grip is also good for the inner pecs .

As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

I do close grip bench as part of a skull krusher routine.. use an EZ bar, grip it about 12" apart, skull krushers behind your head, then do some close grip press right at the end of the set with no break. Basically, complete your last krusher to the top of the ROM, then lower the bar to your chest, and start the press. try to do as many close grip presses as skull krushers in each set. you might need to lower the weight a bit, but on the other hand, I found it killer for adding serious bulk to your triceps! I'm a bit over 6'3" and I still find 10-12" apart works fine
    Let me get this straight...
You get play from the girl of your dreams
PR Shoulder Press using the 3 digit dumbells
Hit up some fun with the guys
    Then get more play
(all in one afternoon/evening I might add.. S)
You are a success my friend . Share your secrets. (Crippy)

If you're still learning here's a tip: Never, ever, ever say the inner pecs again.

Check out a picture on the anatomy of the human body and find me the inner pec and it's functions.

    Pec major
    Pec minor

    That is all.

    WTF are you talking about?

I have never said a stat or lift abouit myself that was not true. Just because I am not an idiot who says he works his inner pecs doesn't mean..... you know forget it, it ain't even worth it.

Didn't you say you were leaving?

PS- I'm a powerlifter and I could give a damn about how I look in a posedown with some homo on the internet. Thank you, drive through.

Emails?? Are you on some sort of crack??

Ed Coan is the fookin man!! I guarantee if I met and spoke with him, he would consider the hard work and dedication I put into it worthy of calling myself a powerlifter. Am I on his level? Hell no! Do I bust my ass and probably know a hell of a lot more about it then you? Yes.

What am I trying to back up? Why are you attacking me? All you have to do to shut me up is find me something that shows the anatomy of the pectoral muscles that includes an inner chest and it's functions.

PS- I never lie about any of my lifts. You can read my journal and follow along through all my sessions.

Superlog, you may be big, you may be strong, but you're still wrong.

Stop being a goddamn meathead and learn something! Latty knows what he's talking about here... Bodybuilders often learn by doing, not by being taught, and they're ALSO notoriously arrogant and set in their ways. If you focus hard on your chest with presses, flyes, etc., it WILL grow.

But sitting there behind your computer puffing yourself up, and tearing other people down, all the while being wrong, makes you seem ridiculous.

And we can PROVE that you're wrong. What you're saying is akin to saying the world is flat. You're saying that stars are holes poked in the black paper covering the earth. You're wrong. saying you are batman does not make you batman. If Vince Gironda said he was batman, I would call him an idiot. I would also say he's wrong. Much as he is in this case.

    And you, superlog, are wrong.
