I wouldn't go much closer than 12" apart. Closer than that and you'll get some wrist problems...

    Reinier,
I'm 6'2" and when doing a regular bench press I grip the bar with my middle finger on the rings...

I do them with 1 finger on the smooth. I wouldn't feel comfortable going any closer than 2 fingers on the smooth.

when you are on the bench, just bring your arms up from your side and dont move them closer or away from your body, just rotate them back to the bar and where they hit, you should grasp.
Don't just call me pessimist. Try and read between the lines. I can't imagine why you wouldn't Welcome any change, my friend. I wanna see it all come down. suck it down. flush it down.

Do you guys do these on chest day? I've alway been afraid of them for fear of overtraining my chest. I would be curious to know how everyone puts them in their routine.

Index finger where the knurling starts and the smooth part ends. Anything closer than that and it messes w/my wrists.

I do them with about 1-2 inches in from shoulder width, and when I stretch out both thumbs, they will be about 3 inches apart. For a reverse grip bench bress I'll use the smith machine for safety precautions.
    Change is good.

I do them with my hands about 6 inches apart, but I have much narrower shoulders than you guys...

I was always under the impression that preacher was the name of the bench that you do curls on?

I do the regular benching at like only an inch or two away from where the knuckling starts.

perhaps (with my height as well) i need to grip much wider.

*ez bar, just that I use it on the preacher when I do stuff with it for bi's, so I call it a preacher bar.
