    Elvis, supposed 85,000 calorie diet.

I'm doing a paper on fat people and have to find examples of people who died from obesity. I found this article.

    http://ezinearticles.com/?What-The-D...sity&id=129660

Elvis was consuming over 85,000 calories per day and was sitting around doing nothing more strenuous than reaching forward to flip the channels on his TV set. 85,000 calories is more than enough to keep an elephant alive. Presley’s favorite daily diet was a 30-cm long bread roll stuffed with bacon, peanut butter and strawberry jam. Each one had about 42,000 calories. Elvis would eat two every day together with other snacks like hamburgers and deep-fried white bread.

Wtf haha. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I'm mad that this is pretty much the only article about his eating problems.

30cm is only a footlong sub. I dont see how that could exceed 10k calories no matter what is in there

well, considering when people usually discuss calories, they;re actually talking kilocalories, this may not be that absurd. so they're saying that he was eating 8500 calories, which is what most people would call 8500 "calories".

I don't think they were talking about kilocalories... here is the previous paragraph, along with the rest...
We all need a minimum of 1,500 to 1,800 calories daily to stay alive. People doing heavy work and therefore burning lots of calories need even more calories, up to about 10,000 per day.

The answer to our question is, yes, Elvis who conquered the fickle and fiercely competitive music industry was no match to the alluring aroma and taste of food. He just ate himself to death.

The mention of the elephant makes me think they were referring to 85,000, not 8,500.

There is no f-ing way somebody could eat 85,000 calories in a day. Even competitive eaters like Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut eat about 12-15,000 calories when they consume those 50+ hotdogs, but most of that doesn't even get digested. It's just not possible.

According to fitday, 6.5 liters of peanut butter + 10 lbs of bacon + 10 lbs of jam = 82,489 calories. And he fit all that onto two foot-long rolls.

With a ballpark of 3500 calories per pound gained, he would have gained about 22.8 lbs/day if he burned 5000 cals/day, gaining about 680 lbs/month. Not sure I believe that; they might be off by a factor of 10.

What do they mean Elvis is dead? My suspicion is that he is still alive, eating 85,000 calories per day, and is now what we know as Rosie O'Donnell.
