The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Thanks.

I try to get them in every 2 weeks or so. I swear I'm almost better at them than I am a regular sumo DL (at least raw).

I went up to Super Training for a NorCal USPF meet today. Cliff and Brad lifted and did great. It was Cliff's first meet, and Brad's first meet since joining Wild Iron. Brad improved his total by ~140 lbs in 4 months.

After watching how easy 535 was, I'm pissed that I missed 555.

Nice bench, do you think that the manpon adds lbs to your bench or is it more to take some stress off the bottom?

Thanks. It definitely takes stress out. We've talked about if it adds anything. Consensus is 10-20 lbs. I just keep track of my manpon PR. If it's going up, then I'm getting stronger. I don't plan on doing a raw meet anytime soon.

755 wasn't as deep as I'd like but I'm not concerned. I've actually never hit depth in full gear in training, and I make it easy at meets. It'll be good to wear briefs on DE now and work up sometimes. 800+ is there if I train right.

Your set-up is looking much better now. Looks like you are standing up with everything in good balance. Whatever adjustments you have made appear to be working well.

good speed on the way up with the squats, they are looking good.

I know what you mean about being able to drop it down the last inch or two in training, given how easy that squat looked I am sure you could have got it to depth.

also, ditch those inzer knee wraps, get some convicts and that is an 800lbs squat right there haha.

Thanks Sean. I felt super stable when I unracked and it makes a huge difference. My first try with 755 (not on the video) wasn't a very good setup.

Those aren't wraps. They are just single ply APT knee sleeves. I wear the knee sleeves just to keep my knees warm. I wear 2.5M metal all blacks at meets. That was the second 755. The first one wasn't very good. If I'd nailed it that easy the first time, then I'd have tried 805. I'll probably squat in full gear 2-3 more times before the meet though, so there was no point in killing myself. I think depth is easier at meets because my gear is always a tad looser after the week off of training going into a meet.

with knee wraps you should be at 800+ without much problems I bet.

My gear is always so tight at a meet because I always bloat up to bigger then my training weight. For me at meets depth is dependent on whoever calls it, I really have no idea where I am at in a multiply squat. Judges often tell me that I am hard to judge and i get lots of weird calls (some for, some against) so it can be difficult to figure out correct depth.

Becky is really good about calling my depth right. I'm confident I'll pass at any multi-ply meet

ME floor press vs quaded mini (155 lbs of tension)
    135 x 3
    185 x 1
    225 x 1
    245 x 1
    265 x 1
    185 3 x 5

The quaded band makes it a bit easy at the bottom but brutal to lockout.

    Standing DB press
    45 3 x 12

    Panora press
    MM 4 x 15

    Hammer curls
    45 3 x 8
