Thanks Nick. This is the first time that simple rest hasn't made something go away.

ME bench with 100 lbs of chains
    225 x 3
    255 x 3
    275 x 3
    295 x 2
    315 3 x 5 4-bd

I'm going to bench with very little or no contrast for a bit. I'll just vary it with boards. I honestly don't overload the top with contrast, and I handle less weight throughout the motion. Until my lockout gets better, I might as well lift the weight for the full motion.

    Push ups
    4 x 10

    JM press
    95 4 x 10

Looks like I have a torn meniscus. I couldn't get a MRI, because the Doc has to wait for insurance to approve it. MRI is the 27th, and my appointment to get the results is 30 mins after the MRI. I shouldn't have gone to my regular DR first, since that wasted ~2 weeks. I have a PPO, so I could have gone right to the specialist. Blah.

In terms of all the things you can mess up in your knee, it's not bad. They just scope it out, and I can start training again in 2-4 weeks. I'll probably end up having more downtime before surgery than after it. I will say that not squatting or deadlifting sucks ass.

    Thanks Brian.

I went to the Olympia. I competed DL only.

    600 good
    677 good
    716 miss

My lockout is definitely stronger but there's just not enough leg drive with one good leg. It was a fun time. MRI tomorrow and I meet with the DR right after to get results.

I agree, damn good pull for having a bad knee. I also see you went for a PR. Hopefully you hear some good news tomorrow.

Thanks Nick. With the way your training is going, you're going to get there and probably sooner than you think.

Brian, I did go for the PR. There was really nothing to lose at that point. Thanks. I can't wait to be in that stupid tube at 7:45 AM, haha.

MRI was interesting. I better never need a shoulder MRI. It looks like I tore the meniscus awhile ago. It was barely readable on the MRI, and it looks like it's healed well on it's own. I have a 8.7mm piece of floating cartilage in my knee. That's what's causing the pain. I guess once it breaks free it'll grow and get harder over time, so this will only get worse. I need to set a date to have it removed. The DR said he'll also look at the meniscus to see if any cleanup is needed.

I'm on the diet band wagon. At least I'm going to diet until I can train normally again. I'm going to have to cardio has part of my rehab too. I'm 244 right now. i was 263 at my last meet. I think my plan is to get under 230 then go back up to 245ish.

No matter how hard I try to lose weight it never happens. My only problem is that I don't do any type of cardio at all.....and I love to eat. I guess I'll be in the 242's forever.

My biggest change is taking my lunch to work 3-4 days a week. It's cheaper and healthier. I'm probably losing some muscle too, since I can't squat or deadlift.

2 weeks after surgery but it'll be light at first. He said 6 weeks after there are no restrictions. I'll probably do mostly rep work in the beginning.

Sorry to hear about the knee, look on the bright side.. you can get a really good floor press now! haha.

I wouldn't worry to much about muscle loss, any that occours is going to come back very quickly. You built the strength and muscle over years and its going to take more than 10 weeks or whatever it is to lose it.

I hear you on bringing a lunch, it sucks having to prepare things. It does get easier after a few weeks. The key is lots and lots of coffee hahaha.

    Brian,

    You're probably right.

    Selk,

Yeah, I make up a large thing of salad for the week. In the morning, I put it into a container for lunch and add meat. It makes it really simple. Then on training days I take a yam or some fruit. That combined with protein shakes, and I feel pretty good. I'm pretty sure my squat strength will come back quickly. I've been squatting on one bad leg for awhile now.

Back in May, 2009 my left knee popped when doing deficit deads and it was sore for a bit. I iced and starting wearing knee sleeves. That could have been when I tore the meniscus originally.

    Pull ups
    5 x 5

    Tubby bitch rows
    100 3 x 10

    Knee rehab stuff.

I get my knee fixed tomorrow morning. Tentative plans is to squat 3 times a week once I get ROM back. Obviously it'll be very light, so recover won't be an issue. That should help me get back up to speed quicker.

Surgery is done. I can walk and bend it some. I can't take the wraps off until tomorrow afternoon. I honestly can't tell if it's the wrap or swelling that's limiting my ROM.
