The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Thanks Brian. It's as good as I could've hoped for. The pain hasn't been bad either. I've only taken the 800mg ibuprofen to fight the swelling. I haven't touched the pain pills they gave me.

Knee rehab. Everything was single leg.

    Step ups
    6" 5 x 10

    TKE
    light band 5 x 10

    Band leg curls
    MM 5 x 10

    Box squats to bench
    5 x 10

Also a lot of foam rolling and massage ball work to prevent scar tissue from forming. The swelling is down significantly.

Post op follow up wasn't so good. I have grade 3-4 (insert fancy medical term) between my femur and knee cap. There's very little cartilage and there's some bone on bone. The treatment options range from bad to worse. For now, I'll deal with it and worry about getting it fixed when I'm old.

    Floor press with sling shot
    315 x 3
    345 x 1
    365 x 1
    385 x 1
    315 3 x 5

    Shoulder recovery

    H-roll
    35 2 x 10

    Panora press
    MM 3 x 20

    Step ups
    13" 3 x 10

    Box squat on 13" box
    3 x 10

    TKE
    light band 3 x 10

The muscle endurance in my legs sucks. ROM seems to be 100% doing step overs.

Thanks Brian. It happens. Hopefully once my knee is back to normal there's no pain, and I can just rain normally. It was fine until I got the floating chunk in it.

Yes Brian, it wasn't pretty but I got some work done.

Thanks Coke. I know Jim Hoskinson has squatted 1000+ on two replaced knees, so I don't see the knee issues limiting me.

Thanks Nick. It feels better when I move vs sitting, so it seems to be working.

I forgot to log DE bench yesterday. It wasn't too exciting:

DE bench with MM under bench:
    135 9 x 3

    Panora press:
    light band 4 x 10

    Band pull aparts:
    light band 4 x 10

    Shoulder recovery.

    Today's training.

    SSB box squat:
    140 5 x 5

I played with my stance some. Right about shoulder width feels the best for now.

    Speed deads vs quaded minis:
    245 5 x 3

I have to start with my hips higher. This may actually work better for me.

I did knee rehab stuff. The big improvement was dragging the sled backwards. I went 4 times further than Thursday. It's still light and not very far, but progress is progress.

ME bench with 70 lbs of chains
    275 x 3
    295 x 3
315 x 1 miss 2nd. Looking at the video my right shoulder flared too much on the first rep. I never got it tucked back in for the second.
    275 x 5 4-bd
    295 2 x 5

    H-roll
    35 2 x 10

    Shoulder recovery

    Panora press
    mini 5 x 20

    Barbell rows
    185 3 x 10

That sucks, but it could be a good thing. Maybe when you go back to using leg drive you'll be stronger.

You're probably right. My bench went down at first, but it's bouncing back. Once I had leg drive it should really help.

ME deadlift vs 65 lbs of chains
    405 x 3
    455 x 3
495 x 1 I just can't get my hips down to setup right yet. My left knee is pretty unstable too

    SSB GM at 38"
    260 3 x 5

    Reverse hyper
    300 3 x 10

That's the first time the RH has been difficult. My lower back is much weaker.

    Knee rehab
    TKE
    Peterson step ups
    Hip adduction
    Band leg curls

Thanks. I know it's a fine line between pushing myself and doing something stupid that'll set back my recovery.
