The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    GPP/recovery work:

    Circuit (4 times through):
    Jay Fry bench stretching
    16kg KB bench x 20
Doubled mini face pulls x 20
    Shoulder stretching

    Box jumps (18" + 16kg per hand):
    3 x 8

    Calf raises (32kg per hand):
    4 x 25

    Lateral lunges:
    BW x a bunch

Conditioning and bench setup are improving. I can't make my arms shorter so I have to arch more.

ME GM vs bands on tensor:
    Blue x 3 (240 tension)
    Blue + green x 3 (400 tension)
    Blue + green + purple x 3 (500 tension)
    Blue + green + green x 3 (560 tension)
Add purple x 1 (add belt, 660 tension)
    Add MM x 1 (730 tension)
    Add mini x 1 (780 tension)

That was 780ish at the top and the hardest thing I've ever unracked.

    SLDL 4" deficit (no belt):
    325 x 5
    325 x 5 add 80 lbs of chains
    415 x 5

    KB swing:
    48kg 3 x 8

    Leg curl:
    New green band 3 x 8

    Yesterday's GPP stuff...

    Circuit x 4:
    lateral lunges
    Jay Fry bench stretching
    Spud abs with 90 lbs
Small tire drag x 70 yards

I did some shoulder stretching afterwards.

ME bench vs. 150 lbs of band tension:
    225 x 1 raw
    315 x 1 (add shirt and 2-bd)
    405 x 1 (old PR)
    425 x 1
    445 x 1
    455 x 1 (50 lb PR)
225 x 15 (raw, straight weight rep out)

My left hand is swollen. They actually were getting easier to press as it got heavier. I just didn't think my wrists could handle any more though.

    Panora pulldowns:
    green doubled 3 x 8

    Face pulls:
    MM doubled 3 x 8

Rolling KB extension super set with Panora press:
    16 kg 4 x 8
    MM doubled 4 x 8

    Bicep curls with curl bar:
    4 x 10

There will be more Bill vs. Becky cheerleading footage. It was pretty funny.

Thanks Treston. I need to get back up to Super Training for a bench workout. Having everyone kick my ass by a plate + is pretty motivating.

    Sunday's video:

I didn't press on Sunday or do anything noteworthy. My wrist were still pretty beat up. I think I have a inner/outer rotator imbalance in my right side. I'm going to talk to Ryan Horn tonight, and see if we can't figure out a plan to fix it before it becomes a real issue. I think it's holding back my bench though. My right arm doesn't want to stay tucked.

Good stuff. On your last DE effort squat day why did you do zerchers before your DE squat?

We only have one rack for now, and we have too many people to all squat in one group. So one group deadlifts first while the other group squats first. That'll change when we move to a bigger space in 4 weeks. Then we'll have 2-3 racks and 4 times the space.

I've started doing a real warmup program. I really suck at it.

ME deads (plates on 6" box)
    135 x 5
    225 x 5
    315 x 3
    405 x 1
    495 x 1
    585 x 1 (add belt)
    635 x 1
    675 x 1 (70 lb PR)
    695 x miss

Deadlift bar is only 45 lbs so my old PRs were actually 10 lbs lighter.

    One legged SLDL with KB
    32kg 4 x 8

    KB swings
    48kg 3 x 8

    Suspended GM with SSB
    330 3 x 5

    Leg curl
    Green 3 x 10

    425 x 3 (5- bd)

    KB row
    32kg 2 x 20

Rolling KB extensions super set with Panora press
    16kg 4 x 8
    MM doubled 4 x 15

    Strong work man.

I've started with a proper warmup now too - need to get some kind of flexibility haha
I'm weak now, but not for long

Thanks! I feel that the warmup stuff helps. I think the stronger you get the more important it is. It's natural to get less flexible/mobile as you add muscle mass.

    DE squat day:

Lots of warmup with tire drag, dynamic mobility, and stretching.

Sumo speed deads vs. quaded minis:
    315 8 x 1

DE squat with 13.25" box and reverse green (deloads 75 lbs on the box):
    415 6 x 2 (raw)
505 x 2 (add briefs and switch to foam on 12.5" box)
    555 x 2
    595 x 2
    645 x 2
    685 x 1
735 x miss (my hips got a little behind me on the way up, and I wasn't strong enough to get them back under me)

    GHR (new toy):
    BW x 8
    Purple 3 x 8

    KB swing:
    48 kg 2 x 8

    Spud abs:
    90 2 x 8

    Bunch of foam roller...

    Deload bench workout:

A bunch of warmup, mobility, and stretching.

    KB floor press:
    16kg 4 x 25

    KB rows:
    16kg 2 x 20

    Face pulls:
    2 x 20

    Panora press:
    4 x 15

    Forearm work:
    2.5 x a lot of rotations

I'm going to drill a hole through a 1.5" PVC pipe and hang a rope for this. I tried it with a 1/2" dowel and it was a million rotations
