Nice squats Marcus, do you ever wrap your knees in training?

Thanks Brian. I usually wrap them once during a training cycle. I probably should wrap them whenever I go full gear, but it's just a hassle.

Impressed with your whole team, but you appear to individually be stepping up your game even more Marcus.

I can understand that. Your knee doesn't bother you from the procedure you had done?

Thanks Coke. The bench still needs work as it's lagging, but it's improving pretty fast every time I shirt up.

Brian, it felt fine squatting in gear soon after surgery. I think that's because in gear I sit back more and my hips do more of the work. Raw squatting sucked until I got the orthovisc injections. Now my knee feels better than it has in years. I should have gotten the orthovisc right away after surgery.

I've noticed that also. My knee doesn't hurt if I squat wide and back, the only problem is I haven't done it with weight yet, lol.

Yeah, it's funny how that works. It definitely sucked watching my bench go down quite a bit at first though. It took about 2 months to start paying off.

Great benching Marcus! You looked really tight while using that foam. I have a lot of trouble staying tight when using foam or carpet or something like that.

Thanks Lones. I think a lot of people do relax once the bar hits the foam.

    Thanks Mark.

DE squats with buffalo bar vs average and 80 lbs of chains
    320 6 x 2
    370 2 x 2

That concludes 3 weeks of buffalo bar vs light band. Starting a new wave with chains next week.

Brian, we keep it pretty simple. This wave was:

Week 1: buffalo bar and avg band raw
Week 2: buffalo bar and avg band in briefs (go heavier)
Week 3: buffalo bar and avg band in briefs (add 80 lbs of chains and go lighter than week 2)

The next wave will be similar except chains. My tentative plan is to go raw the first week. Add briefs and increase the weight the 2nd week. Use briefs the 3rd week and add more chains. Since I'm getting closer to a meet in November, I may just do all my DE in briefs until then. The idea though is to always increase the weight from week 1 to week 2. Then we increase the accommodation week 2 to week 3.

Sounds simple enough. On my speed days I would either wear single ply briefs or a single ply suit with the straps down. I never added anything else.

That makes sense. The briefs I wear for DE are much looser than the ones I wear for meets. That way I can easily get to the box with weights I should use for DE.

Yeah, there is no way I can do speed work with my boss briefs, lol. I would need at least 700lbs of bar weight plus bands, lol. Then I would have to move it fast. So the single ply works out great for me.

That's crazy your boss briefs are that tight. It makes sense though when you squat over 1,000.

    Sunday:
I've dropped DE bench. It seemed like no matter what I did it was affecting my ME training. Now I just use Sunday as an extra workout day. I get in the smaller accessories and restoration type stuff. It seems to be helping.

I'm not training Tuesday and Thursday this week. My mom is visiting, so I'm going to take it as a deload.

That's really crazy. AJ has told me before that he does his speed bench work, but if it starts hurting him he bodybuilds. Seems like a sensible way to approach it

I have a meet in November. I'll start back up the speed work after the meet. I need to figure out a way to get in that work without it affecting my ME training. I think I finally figured out how to sleep without waking up because my shoulders kill from putting too much weight on them. That should help too.

Change of plans... I couldn't miss reverse band deadlift night.

    ME deadlift with reverse average
    605 x 1
    655 x 1
    695 x 1 (10 lb PR)
715 x miss (really sad since it barely got off the floor and 695 was easy)
