The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Thanks Coke.

Cliff gets excited at the end. That was actually his 2nd attempt with the weight. He wasn't happy the spotters touched the first attempt.

Haha, I love it when Cliff gets excited!!! I went back and watched it 3x and laughed everytime, lol. It seems like everytime I watch your videos I always see someone new to the crew. How many members do you have now? And thanks for adding more females, now I don't look so gay at work when I'm watching your videos, lol. (I get a lot of shit for watching training videos, lol)

We're still at just over 20 members. We had a couple that were just on summer break from college.

    ME bench with slingshot
    365 x 2
    405 x 1
405 x miss (I felt good so tried it no sling shot. So annoying. I need more lat work to keep it in the groove on the way down.)
425 x 1 (put the slingshot back on)

    3-bd narrow grip
    275 x 8
    315 2 x 8

    Barbell rows:
    225 6 x 10 (alternating wide and narrow grip)

    Panora press:
    MM + micro 5 x 12

We only have a few people that haven't competed yet. They should all hit a meet between now and the end of the year. I've hit 385. I'm close on the 405. I've tried twice and this one was better than last time.

DE squat with SSB vs average band and 130 lbs of chain
    350 6 x 2
    400 x 2
    440 x 2

    2" deficit deadlifts
    405 x 5
    455 2 x 5

    doubled light band 4 x 10

Why don't you try making smaller PR attempts? Maybe 5lbs? That's what I do and I think Lones does the same thing...just a thought!

I would have gone for a smaller PR if I planned on doing raw bench. It was more of an impulse move, since the 405 with a slingshot felt so easy. I decided to go for it raw. That probably wasn't a great idea, since the sling shot is a little different groove.

    DE bench vs doubled minis
    165 3 x 3
    185 6 x 3

    Dumbbell bench
    90 3 x 12

    Seated row

I had a short deload to go out of town for a wedding. Not surprising that a town of 800 people didn't have a gym. It would have been interesting to train at an altitude of 6,000 ft.

ME squat vs strong band with buffalo bar
    460 x 1
    500 x 1
    550 x 1
    570 x 1

I did 505 with a straight bar back in December, so this is good. I did 550 with the SSB more recently.

    Cambered bar GM
    295 x 5
    345 2 x 5

    Spud abs
    120 4 x 10

    Thanks Coke.

    DE squats vs light band
    465 4 x 2
    505 4 x 2

I've been using a lot of contrast, so I'm going to try a wave with less contrast and more bar weight.

    Marcus,
do you plan the training for the whole team? Do you all follow the same program, or everybody has his/her own one?

I don't plan training for everyone. We follow conjugate periodization which was made famous by Westside.

Thanks Brian. I wanted to do XPC semis. It doesn't look likely. I changed companies 5 weeks ago and am back to square zero for vacation time. Also, we're hosting a meet 3 weeks before it, and that always kicks my ass.

Thanks Coke. It's so odd my squat and bench are going well, and it's my deadlift that's gone to crap.

ME bench vs MM with manpon
    325 x 1
    345 x 1
    355 x 1
    365 x 1

I have a PR of 325 vs light band. I'll call this a PR since it's 25 lbs less tension, but 40 lbs more bar weight.

    Dumbbell bench
    100 3 x 10

    Neutral grip pull ups
    5 x 5

    Dips
    BW x 10, 10, 8, 6

No more Apple. I was there 4.5 years which is the longest I've stayed anywhere. I'm at EMC now which is the largest tech company no one's ever heard of, since consumers don't directly use the products.

    Thanks Rob.
