The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

That's a lot of work. How long do your sessions go for usually?
Its Westside with block periodization. Im using different blocks as i have done before to balance volume and intensity (based on prilepin). The blocks have different goals. The one im in now, Accumulation, volume is extremely high with moderate intensity. Goal is to increase GPP and add some muscle in preperaton of the next block. So far, i like it a lot. All i need now is some results.

My sessions at the moment are about 60-70 mins including warm up. Rest is kept very short, 1-2 mins on main sets, 30 secs or less on assistance work.

Lower back feels a little bit sore/tight. Same with legs. It normally takes close to 48 hours before the extreme soreness arrives so im enjoying the ability to walk normally for as long as i can .

There is a lot to think about when im benching, hopefully at one point that becomes automatic.

I love it so far. Those days i really feel like i did some heavy lifting. I am not sure what it will be like when i get close to lifting 100%, but will see when i get there.

    Assistance SQ/DL 04-28-2012

    Warm up

    Low box squats
    barxmany
    6x2x40kg (90lbs)
    3x2x60kg (135lbs)
    2x70kg (155lbs) <- add loose belt
    2x80kg (175lbs)
    25x2x85kg (185lbs) <- in 15 mins, 9 seconds

Previous best with this box height and weight was 18 mins 59 seconds. Last week to a parallel box was 17 mins, 22 secs. I have no clue how i did it. I almost passed out and came close to puking. It was awesome.

    Conventional deadlift
    3x1x60kg (135lbs)
    2x1x80kg (175lbs)
    1x100kg (225lbs)
    16x1x110kg (245lbs) <- in 3 mins, 19 seconds.

Last week was 5 mins 14 secs, with my previous best being 4 mins 29 seconds.

    Leg curls
    10x50kg (110lbs)
    5x10x70kg (155lbs)

My left hamstring was feeling tight so i wanted to get a bit of blood in it. Its still feeling tight but that will hopefully go away as the day goes along.

    Standing cable crunch
    4x25x65kg (145lbs)

I will be making an appearance at the unlimited sushi buffet again tonight. They better be prepared .

    TH Warm up

    Floor Press
    barxmany
    6x3x40kg (90lbs)
    3x50kg (110lbs)
    3x55kg (125lbs)

    5x3x60kg (135lbs) <- Thumbs smooth
    5x3x60kg (135lbs) <- Pinkies rings

My elbows have been sore for a week now so i decided to use a floor press instead as its easier on my elbows. Actually really liked it for speed work as i used a good pause at the bottom.

    Straight bar pushdowns
    5x20x25kg (55lbs)

Went high volume and light with this to get loads of blood around my elbows. They felt much better after this.

    NG Seated Rows
    5x10xsetting 12

    Tricep Ladder
    One round.

    Reverse peck deck
    35x33kg (70lbs)

    Preacher Curl machine
    4x10x20kg (45lbs)
    10x25kg (55lbs)

Will be having some beer tonight as tomorrow will be Queensday. I havent had alcohol in weeks so will probably be knocked out after two .

Really great workouts going on of late, Luna. Really good stuff! Never done Floor Press, I take it you use DBs and end each rep with elbow on floor?

Thanks Gazzy. I perform a floor press in the rack with a barbell. Each rep is paused on the floor when elbows touch indeed. I like it a lot because the focus is completely on the pressing muscles and i can keep form better. The DB version is also very good.

That's interesting. I've never done floor presses because I was scared of coming down too hard on my elbows and damaging them. You like them?
