The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

You need periods like this. Usually when you get away from the diet a bit it allows you to redirect your energies for making yourself work harder for a period of days or weeks.

I'm like that. I did my carb up with some dirty fats Saturday and I'm ready to hit it hard for this final stretch until my contest. You absolutely need those days. Just don't have too many of those days within 1 week! lol

I agree. The planned cheat meals/refeeds have had such a big impact on me staying consistent with my diet. I also enjoy compensating. One day you might have something you shouldnt have, which you can make up for by being more strict another day. This means i dont have to worry when everything didnt go as planned and i can still reach my fat loss goal on a weekly basis.

Had a great strict diet day yesterday. Macros ended up being around 230/50/30 (P/C/F). Lower on calories than i was planning too but i wasnt very hungry either. Back to normal dieting today.

Really looking forward to benching tonight. Definitely feel much more motivated currently.

I was busy all day so my mind wasnt on eating to be honest. I also drink a lot of liquid which fills me up rather well. In the end, it is too low, calorie wise, and im hoping it wont effect my bench training tonight. Just experimenting a little here to see what the effects are.

Sounds like you are doing very well with the diet. It's tough staying consistent with all that, I know....as TP said, it's definitely a motivator when you start seeing some definition! It starts to finally make you feel as if all the hard work is actually building some muscle. I know the feeling very well.

    Great job throughout!

You got that right! Everything was low. What did you eat, meat and shakes only?

Those calories are seriously low, but it's not bad after a day with higher calories. There you go compensating!

Pretty much. In the end it was a little too drastic as i felt a little weak in my training yesterday. Low carb is definitely something i should stay far, far away from . I did feel a little flabby and i noticed you said you get that before a drop in bf, so im hoping that is the case.

Bench definitely felt harder, but i did get almost the same reps as usual. My lower back was pretty tight, but the rows still felt solid.

Im really starting to love dips. Pull ups were pretty hard, but i did feel them a lot better in my lats than chins. Im going to go for higher volume on them next session.

Superset was great and really finished off the session.

Thanks Bri. It does get pretty tough after 15 weeks to get motivation up, but results do make a huge difference. You were cutting as well right? How is it going?

45 mins of Incline treadmill. Last 10 mins working up to max incline.

Various stretches. Hamstrings were still very tight and slightly sore, but did feel much better after the cardio and stretching.

    Squats
    5,2,2,2x137.5kg (300lbs)

    Standing calf raises
    2x15x50kg (110lbs)

    GHR
    3x8xBW

    Leg Extensions
    5x10x64kg (145lbs)

    Pull throughs
    3x8x50kg (110lbs)

Squats were very heavy. Wasnt happy at all with form on the first set, but i felt clusters were slightly better. My form definitely breaks down on this heavy set. Got pretty close to failure on the very last rep. The rep felt like it took an eternity.

Did some calf raises before the GHR to warm them up and prevent cramping. GHR felt very solid, but i feel my glutes arent really firing during the reps, its mostly hamstrings.

Leg extensions were done very slow, pause at the top and 20 breaths rest in between sets. Got an incredible burn from the very first set.

Pullthroughs were great and i had nothing else left in me after those.

Will do abs + biceps tonight after cardio.
