Question for benchers in single ply katana

where do you set the sleeves in relation to your elbow? I've been putting mine an inch to an inch and a half past my elbows but after watching the new bench vid from Supertraining, it looks like Mark keeps his below the elbow (on the forearm). This got me thinking that it might provide more support through the lift to lockout, but would it also make it more difficult to touch?

Here's the vid I'm referring to:

You have to have the sleeves above the elbow in every federation that I know of. Why train with the sleeves below? In the vid it looks like Marks sleeves are right at the elbow.
Can't wait 'til tomorrow, 'cause I get stronger every day!

I hate to agree with the old man but he is right and that doesn't matter if you are wearing a single ply double ply tripply ply or a haines t-shirt the rules are below the elbow

Yeah in that video it looks like they are right at Mark's elbows, not over them.

i wouldn't think putting them over your elbows would be a real good idea, too much squeeze on the joint

Was this question directed at me? Just to clarify, when i said past my elbow 1-1.5" I meant up past the elbow where it traditionally sits on the bicep, not below on forearm.

I didn't know if there was some practical reason for having the sleeves closer to the elbow or directly on it, as there seems to be a lot of slack in Mark's shirt in the lat/back or arm area.

this could also be a product of him using the absolute smallest sleeve size that will fit him, and him just not being able to get it any higher on his arm.

you want the bottom of the sleeve at the elbow, like mark has his. the reason there looks like alot of slack is because the back of the shirt is pulled high and the front is extremely low so u will get a crease. the shirt in my guess does take awhile to get on mine takes 10 to 15 minutes. the tighter the sleeves the better the lockout just wondering what your carry over was? just my 2 cents.

I wear a stock 48 Super and get about 135 so far out of it. Usually one sleeve goes on higher than the other, then we fight to get them about even and it ends up being 1 or so inches above the elbow. I'll try this weekend to keep it lower on the arm and see what kind of a difference it makes.
