The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

how often should you work abs?

I know this question has been asked plenty of times! But i have people telling me that im dumb, and its not going to work if i only work my abs 3 times a week! I just want a straight up answer as to what works best, I've been told that i have to work my abs every single day but it doesnt seem right! I mean they too need time to recover! The people that tell me this say that their trainer in high school told them this, and thats the only way it works! I want to know whats up and basically prove a point!! So abs every day or 3 times a week perfect!? links on this would be great! Thanks guys!!

I'd go with 1 or 2 days a week using weights (resistance).

Ditto to what syntekz said. Once or twice a week is more then enough, any more and you won't be giving recovery time.. also, like he said, use resistance for them. None of that "I do 300 situps a night, just like my gym teacher back in high school told me to do" crap.

I've been doing my abs 3 times a week, but i wanted some opinions on this!! So it's basically pointless to do your abs everysingle day!?

I personally think it is. I've tried it before and after a week or two I felt that I was overtraining my abs. I wasn't progressing in weight any longer and my abs were constantly sore...

abs are like every other muscle. Every day just doesn't give recovery time.
