    Strongman training Yoke walk

    Tonight I did some strongman training, we did the yoke walk and farmers walk, the first time I've tried either. I did 603 pounds with the yoke walk for I guess maybe 20 feet ( i'm guessing ), I wasn't wearing the right shoes. MAN, very hard, but I think after training this for a while, walking out a squat will be a cake walk.

    Can't get on Youtube at work but I will check out the video later.

    A lot of the Yoke has to do with having the right equipment (belt/shoes) and breathing. You are right that it makes your squats feel like a feather though!

    Hitting 600 lbs for any distance the first time touching one is quite good, especially at your height.

    That's awesome. After last night, I definitely have a new respect for guys who do this.

    Thanks man, I was pretty happy with it. Another guy was trying around 850. I could pick it up, but at that point, ie after walking with the 603, I was pretty tired and didn't take any steps. I think it's something that I could be really good at, and it was awesome fun.

    He mentioned a competition comming up in July here in Utah. I'm not sure exactly where. I'm going to try to go watch. Here's one of his videos, not from last night though..

    Cool, thanks, I appreciate that. Yes I agree, I had a great time. I can see how training strongman events will go hand in hand with powerlifting. I need to figure out how to modify my current training routine to fit this in once a week.

    I'm trying to think how we did PL and SM at 1-0-7. I Think we pretty much replaced the DE workouts with mobility/event training, though I thought we still did 4 days a week. I could be wrong, maybe Ben remembers.
    M: ME lower (squat oriented)
    W: ME Bench/pressing
    R: De lower/ME Dealifts (I think)
    Sat or Sun: event training

    I am almost positive that is how it went.
