Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Workout Routine

I am going to be starting this Monday and want to get thoughts or suggestions on changes are adjustments. Basically my goal is to gain some weight and get cut with a nice physique. I do not want to bulk up. I am 19 years, 5'10, and weight about 135 pounds. In case you don't know, the days I do not work out I am doing routines from the P90x program; there basically core and cardio.

    Day 1: Chest/Back/Abs
    Chest
    Barbell Bench Press
    Incline Dumbbell Bench Press
    Dumbbell
    Push-ups
    Back
    Pull-ups
    Barbell Shrugs
    Barbell Rows
    Dumbbell Rows

    Day 2:
    Plyometrics routine from P90x

    Day 3: Arms/Abs
    Triceps
    Dips
    Close Grip Bench Press
    Biceps
    Chin-ups
    Dumbbell Curls
    Shoulders
    Seated Dumbbell Presses
    Dumbbell Lateral Raise
    Dumbbell Front Raise

    Day 4
    Kenpo X routine from P90x

    Day 5: Legs/Back/Abs
    Legs
    Squats
    Lunges
    Calf Raises
    Back
    Pull-ups
    Barbell Shrugs
    Barbell Rows
    Dumbbell Rows

    Day 6
    Core Synergistics routine from P90x

    Day 7: Abs/Rest

    What's your diet look like?

Im not familiar with the P90X routine but it seems like a lot. You dont even have a day devoted to rest.

Definitely too much training. You need rest, muscle grow when you rest and eat not hen you train...

Plus, you probably overtrain your back with this workout. This split would be better IMHO : Chest/Tris, Back/bis, legs/shoulders done every other day. Something like this:

Day 2, Day 4, and Day 6 are basically just cardio and core training so it's not exactly a workout. Here is my diet

    Breakfast
    Eggs w/ Bacon

    Lunch
    Spaghetti

    Dinner
    Pizza / Chicken

    Snack 1: Oatmeal
Snack 2: Tuna / Turkey Sandwhich
Snack 3: Apple / Cottage Cheese
Snack 4: Bagel w/ Cream Cheese
    Snack 5: Cereal
    Snack 6: Granola

    man you snack a lot!

cut out some of the carbs in the PM and it will help you shed some bodyfat.

Lol, I haven't started this diet or workout yet. I'm starting in about an hour, had to move all my weights to the garage. And I'm not going to be eating all those snacks in one day, more like 3-4. Those are just what I will be choosing from. And the reason for all the carbs is because I need to put on some weight. I weigh about 130 and my goal is 170.

cool man! yeah carbs can be very anabolic if timed correctly (PWO and breakfast are key for me to load up on carbs). I would suggest shooting for 250-300 grams of protein a day.

I don't gain fast until I am consuming 300g carbs and 300g protein a day with 100g fat. Thats just me though...you have to find your own level...

Read the stickies: Starting Strength and Texas Method. They are at the top of the list of threads in the Bodybuilding/Weightlifting section. Do Starting Strength and eat more- you will get great resluts. You are far too skinny. You need to eat something before you get scurvy. Maybe try the GOMAD diet in addition to your regular intake. (Gallon of milk a day). I know this probably sounds absurd to you but you really need to put on some weight and start making linear progression, low volume and compound movements your best friends.
