The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    dumbbell question

ok so on my routine I am lifting my dumbbells on an elevated pad connected to my weight bench, which the name of has escaped me at the moment. I think you guys know what im talking about. So anyway is it better to use my dumbbells on there or standing up or? Thanks

Like the above two posters, Im having a bit of trouble understanding what you're saying but I think youre referring to a preacher pad. This:

Whether you do bicep curls using this or standing up is very trivial in regards to the big picture. Do whichever you prefer. If you like them the same, alternate week to week.

Unless you either squatted, DL'd or benched/pressed before you do this, it really doesn't matter.

yes it is the preacher pad. I am trying to get my arms bigger all around, especially my wrists. I just figured I should do arm workouts to get my arms bigger. I also believe I am making a mistake here, I do 3 sets of 5 reps with dumbbells, than I do the same with preacher curls on the preacher pad. am I kind of defeating the purpose of one another by doing both? it seems like the exact same movement, except with preacher curls I am using two hands. Is it the same workout with dumbbells and the preacher curls? I am doing both on the pad, would it be more effective in another form? Thanks

If it were me...I would choose one and work it until it stalls. Then I'd switch to the other. And don't forget, Squats build bigger arms.

well being arrogant as I am I decided not to listen to anybody when they said starting strenth was good how it is, so I added some extra stuff on it, not much though. squats, bench press, deadlift, dumbbells, preacher curls, butterfly lifts, hand grips, and pullups. it is the same for b days except it goes squats, overhead press, and powercleans. Thanks
