drop 500 cals trying only to kill carbs at first. see where that gets you. low intensity cardio is swell also. check out the ketogenic diet i think its called, talks about high protein, 0 carbs and low intensity cardio.
400(335) Bench Press
600(520x3 2xBW) Dead Lift
500(495x1) ATG Squat
365 Front Squat
consistency and intensity.
ps. im 6'1 225 lbs and about 16% bodyfat
Just drop calories until your losing weight while keeping protein high. Go from there.
how many carbs should i have? i get over 400 a day, sometimes more...is this too much?
If you're cutting, carbs will most likely be the first to go. Keep protein at about 1g per pound of lean muscle mass and fill the gaps with carbs and fats. Try to have your carbs in the morning or pre/post workout, try to avoid them at night. Also, read this
Throw in 15-30 minutes of HIIT 2-3 times a week on top of lifting and the fat will melt off in no time.

Keep as many carbs as you can fit into a diet plan that is still a caloric defecit.
There is no set number of carbs that is a magic number. You've got to manipulate your cals to be in a deficit (i.e. eating less than you burn). It is usually agreed to keep protein intake at at least 1 g/lb. of bodyweight and you can fill in the rest of your caloric needs with whatever (even candy bars if you really wanted, obviously not the ideal choice, but in the end losing weight is about creating a caloric deficit)

i see, its very simple then, i check on mypyramid.gov and that said i need 3200 cals a day to mailtain my weight, so i am going to aim for 2700 a day and see how it goes...im just worried about moving backwards in my linear progression model that i use in the gym.
as far as that article goes, i read it, and it says that taking the pwo shake BEFORE working out is better? like i said, i take opticen, would it then be best to take it as im leaving for the gym and just eat something when i get back?
NOTE: i usually run for 30-40 mins after my lift then shower then drive home, this can take 90 mins from end of lift to get home
