    Michele Jordan of Powerlifting

I was talking to a friend of mine at work tonight about powerlifting. He does not lift but has thumbed through some of my PL USA magz, has talked me about my workout programs, and just watched my copy of bigger stronger faster that I let him barrow. He has really come interested in the sport and found a new respect and understanding of it. Tonight we were talking about Mark Bell he was impressed by his 700+ bench in B.S.F. and asked me who is the Michele Jordan of PL. I told him to be honest I could not answer that so I thought I would get your guys thoughts about it. Who could be considered the MJ of PL?

No worries man - spelling is one of those things with me.

I'd have to go with Coan as well.

I would have to say that Ed Coan is the older version and Shawn Frankl in the newer version.

So Rob, does that make Shawn = Lebron, or Shawn = Kobe?

I think Ed Coan went over 20 years without losing a meet. Just try to wrap your head around that. There was a time when he had the biggest total in the world as a 242. As great as some guys are today they aren't out totalling the SHWs. Also, they haven't been great for nearly as long.

Ed Coan is the man! I spent some time hanging out with him in Russia (pic attached) and he is a great ambassador for our sport.
