The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Lower acessory. I am a day ahead of how I want to do this, but we have dinner plans tomorrow night. Hamstrings still sore from Monday.

Did incline db curls, hammer curls, good mornings, back extensions, hamstring curls, and leg press. Everything with moderate weights and higher reps. Not logging this because don't really have plans to set pr's with these exercsises. Just want to get work in. Stretched 15 minutes after workout. Took a cold bath for my lower body when I got home. Need to get some big bags of ice. These might be a post squat/deadlift staple.

Doing well. Not nearly the stress you had there for awhile, so it makes training good. Liking having two main sessions for the week. Helping with recovery and gives flexibility. Rolled today for about 45 minutes.

At the commercial gym today. Last minute switch, as usual lifting partner was unable to go today. Had to do today. Not the best session, but not wasted either. Good quality reps, and saw an old bud who I convinced to squat with me. Like old times.

    Squat- Had to walk out
    Bar x 10, 5
    135 x 5 x 2
    225 x 5
    315 x 3

Belt for all 3 working sets
    360 x 5
    410 x 3. Felt very light.
460 x 3- 1 left in the tank, and I think the mono lift adds a rep too. Pretty happy with the rep quality as well. Only had 1 spotter, so didn't want to take it. Happy with this.

Deadlift- Slippery bar and no chalk.

    315 lbs x 3
    375 lbs x 5
    425 lbs x 3
475 lbs x 2 bar just slipped out of my hands. Thought about doing more sets, but this was ok. No reason to overdo it right now.

Back extensions + 10 lbs x 12/Hanging Leg Raises x 12 x 4 sets. Threw an extra set in today.

    15 minutes of stretching.

Thanks for the continued support Coke. I just try to do my best each training session. I look around these journals a lot and am always inspired to reach the level the rest of you guys are at. For today, leisure day at Hershey Park. Was there from about 1:30 pm to past 10:00 pm. Lots of walking and towards the end we ran around the park trying to get on rides like a bunch of little kids. Fun times indeed.

8/18. A little tired today with 5 1/2 hours of sleep last night. Actually took about a 40 minute nap after training tonight. Gotta finish up the week and re-load next week.

    Bench
    Bar x 10, 5
    105 lbs x 5
    145 lbs x 5
    185 lbs x 3

    210 lbs x 5
    235 lbs x 3
    265 lbs x 4
Then did a paused single with 265 which went fine.

    OH Press
    100 lbs x 3

    120 lbs x 5
    140 lbs x 3
    155 lbs x 8

Did the chins/pullups starting after the last set of bench. Alternated beween palms out and palms in. 60 total reps in 8 sets. These were done in between OH Press and Floor Skulls, which were done with 85 lbs x 10 x 3.

    15 minutes stretching.

    8/20

Did a variety of things tonight. Fit the whole body in. Lying Hamstring Curls, Leg Press, Good Mornings, Weighted Crunches, Incline Barbell, Side DB Raises, Rope Pushdowns, Pulldowns, and Seated Rows. Stretched for 15 minutes. Sounds like a lot, but I was out of the gym in less than 85 minutes(including warm ups, lifting and stretching). Moved quickly. Scheduled re-load week, but everything from here until 9/11 will almost be a re-load.

Jsut getting work in this week. Next week will be just enough to keep it going, then taper down even more for 9/11.

    Bench
    Bar x 10, 5
    95 lbs x 5
    110 lbs x 5
    140 lbs x 5
    165 lbs x 5

    OH Press
    60 lbs x 5
    80 lbs x 5
    100 lbs x 5

Chins- 10 sets of 5. 5 palms facing out, 5 palms facing in. Then for fun found out I can do 1 armed chins again.

    Stretch for 15 minutes

I have been there a bunch of times this year. Only live 15 minutes away and have a season pass. They are almost expired, but I do have some reduced price tickets if you can get there before 9/1.

Today I did a full body workout. Moved quickly and actually supersetted a bunch. Last of the re-load workouts. I am going to proceed with my next schedule of 5-3-1, but do the 3 week next week. Those last sets of 3 are going to be my openers on 9/11, except for deads which will be a tad heavier. Probably will pull a single after the set of 3. I want to smoke those openers for confidence and go 9/9 if possible.

Going to do that next week, and get a few lighter workouts in. Just a matter of doing just enough for now.

Today did good mornings, leg press, hypers, crunches, db incline, side laterals, rope pushdowns, pulldowns, hs rows, hammer curls, and stretched. Everything took less than an hour. Rolling tomorrow.

Going to play flag football this year. Played in 04 and 05, but was on a bad team. Played for a guy at work. After about the first 3 games I had most of the league asking my to play on their teams, but felt loyalty to my co-worker. Stopped playing, but every year I have guys ask me to play. Since I don't have much time left doing stuff like this, I figured might as well play while I can. First games is Sunday, which I obviously won't be playing. nexst one is 9/12, so that might be pushing it. Will have to adjust the lifting a tad for the fall, and try to fit rolling in. I might take my cycle maxes and drop them another 90%. We'll see.
