    Sweet squatting.

The back angle you have is exactly what I needed to do to fix my squat.

Terry, John, Brian, Mike, Rory, and Kiff I appreciate the comments. The 405 was a good benchmark to hit for right now. Squatting still needs to improve, but granted I wasn't wearing a belt which helps with staying tight. But, I do need to stay tighter. Also can always do a better job keeping my chest up. I look skinnier in the videos than I am, but still am relatively tall with long legs, so it is always something which requires attention.

As for benching, I made a slight adjustment with my tuck which is going to pay off I believe. I can rip the bar apart better and it keeps my elbows/wrists in line better. Still need better leg drive and explosion off the chest. For some reason when I get heavier benching and try to bench fast, I just throw myself out of position. But all in all, my form is much better than it was.

    3/1/11

    Squat
    Bar x 8, 5
    95 x 5

    145 x 5
    200 x 5
255 x 5 x 2. This was my top set the first week I came back at the end of October. Feels like nothing now. This would be a good beltless set of 20-25 right now.

    Incline
    Bar x 5

    95 x 5
    120 x 5
    145 x 5
    170 x 5
The bench adjustment first came from doing incline, which feel so much lighter now due to this. I am a believer that form is individual and you need to put your body type in the optimal position to lift the most weight.

Deads- all done over/under except the final set
    135 x 5

    235 x 5
    295 x 5
    360 x 5
425 x 5. Straps and double overhand. Lighter than what the 415 felt like last week. Really dialed in today with form. Almost pulled 5 plates for a single, but decided against it. Maybe next week just to see where I am at. I could do 12 with 425, no doubt.

    Decline Sit ups
    5 count negative
    BW x 10, 10, 8

    15 minutes stretching

We'll just keep after it for now. Energy was low today and quite sore, but got it in. Like when you feel crappy, but still get a workout in. Squats felt really good. Was worn out by the end though during the accessory work. Gym was quite humid for some reason and I didn't have my gatorade powder today.

    3/6/11

    Squat
    Bar x 8, 5
    95 x 5
    150 x 5
    205 x 5
    260 x 5

    145 x 5
    180 x 5
    210 x 5

250 x 1. Might have 10 more lbs in me at this time, but not bad all things considered to see where I am at.

    Row

    75 x 5
    105 x 5
    130 x 5
    160 x 5
    185 x 5

    Weighted Hypers
    30 lb db behind the head x 9, 8
This might be where I stray a bit from the program and start doing good mornings. These are getting to be a pain with weight and the such.

    Weighted decline sit ups
    15 lb db x 8 x 4

    15 minutes stretching

Very tight in the hip and lower back are before today's session. Probably took until the 315 set to really feel loose, but not a bad day.

Right now just doing what the program calls for. Brian, I entered Power Palooza in York on 4/17/11. Gives me about a month of this programming yet and then probably will just de-load the week before. Will make my openers my final sets of 5 from the last heavy week of training and go from there. This will put openers potentially at 425 for squat, 235 for bench and 475 for dead. Will just go from there.

Thanks Brian. Another good one today. Squat form is starting to get very consistent.

    3/10/11

Had to train alone today. Come home and there was cat diarrhea on the carpet. Poor little guy did go in both litter boxes,he just ran out of options. So got out the little green bissell and cleaned it up. Also due to the monsoon we are having, had to chase my trash cans down the alley. So, wasn't going to make it to the Burg in time. Let my training partner know and went at it alone at the local gym.

    Squat
    Bar x 8, 5
    95 x 5

    150 x 5
    205 x 5
    260 x 5
    315 x 5
385 x 3. Still keeping the belt off
    260 x 8

    Bench
    Bar x 5

    85 x 5
    115 x 5
    145 x 5
    180 x 5
    215 x 3
    145 x 8

    Row

    75 x 5
    105 x 5
    130 x 5
    160 x 5
    190 x 3
    130 x 8

    Dips

    BW x 18, 8, 8

    BB Curls

    60 x 12, 10, 8

    BB Ext

    80 x 12, 8, 6

    15 minutes stretching

I felt pretty comfortable squatting on Wednesday. Hopefully I'll feel the same way next week. I changed my stance a tad and it seems to feel ok.

I understand Coke. It might have helped today, but I like to keep the belt off as long as necessary. My training partner got a texas power bar from elitefts, so we used that today. I didn't mind the bars at the gym we are at too much, but he has wanted one for awhile. These are thinner, so it was an adjustment squatting and benching. My top set didn't feel the greatest, but I gutted the reps out pretty good and fought the form hard. What I don't like about this bar is I can feel it whip a bit, even with these light weights. I wonder what it is going to be like when we get heavier?

    3/13/11

    Squat
    Bar x 8, 5
    95 x 5

    155 x 5
    210 x 5
    270 x 5
325 x 5- this one felt really good and dialed in
385 x 5- the 385 for 3 felt better on Thursday, but still got them in. Had I needed to, I could have got 8. With a belt on, this would have not been as difficult, but that is good.

    Bench
    Bar x 5

    85 x 5
    115 x 5
    150 x 5
    180 x 5
    215 x 5
    Getting good, consistent leg drive.

    Rows

    80 x 5
    105 x 5
    135 x 5
    165 x 5
    195 x 5

Good Mornings- to replace weighted hypers
65 x 8 x 2. Starting very light and will be a slow build. Training partner actually replaced rows with good mornings. It is going to be rough on the lower back, so we'll see how it goes. He likes a lot of assistance and variety. I prefer training movements and minimal, but effective assistance.

    Weighted Decline Sit ups.

    +15 x 10, 10, 8, 8

    15 minutes stretching

4 more Sunday workouts before the meet. I am going into this thing just hoping to go 9/9 and build from it. Then, will compete in the IPA raw Nationals they will have in York in August. Will hopefully set some pr's there. Maybe something like 550, 310, 640 in August. For Power Palooza I believe 500 in the squat, 260 in the bench and 550 deadlifting are the top end, but possible.

Great workout. Good mornings are something I've never tried, I'm interested to watch how you get on with them.

Looking forward to seeing how your meet goes in a few weeks.
