The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Right now I am thinking this.
    plate for 5 twice
    2 plates for 3
    3 plates for 2
    4 plates for 1
    4 plates and 25 for 1
    Platform
    540
    610 with belt
Pick 3rd based on how 2nd feels

This was actually just a spur of the moment idea that I decided to do if I was feeling it. The plan would have been 505 for 3 singles.

Mike, the next two cycles will have me doing 515 for 3 singles and 525 for 3 singles. Both of those workouts will be belt less. Than about 3 weeks before the meet I'll work up to the 540 opener. So, I won't be training light. Plus squats are gonna be ramped up.

Thats almost exactly how I warmed up my last meet with the big jumps on my 1st and 2nd attempts. Last warmup was 405, then I went 475, 555, 570. Usually I'm only good for 2 pulls on meet day but that time I had a bit more left in the tank, mostly I think because I didn't blow all my energy warming up. By the time the deadlift comes around, I want to just get the hell done with the meet and get something to eat though haha

You ever try training 3x a week? I've found since I have, I don't have to deload nearly as much, and am a lot fresher and fired up to train.

I have done 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 days per week at points Brian. With the strictly pl training it has been 2,3, and 4. I enjoy the frequency of lifting 4 days per week and maybe I have to deload every 4th week, but the next week i am back at it with progression. With 3 days per week it usually is 4 days spread out. This lends to a de-load every 5th week and progression to the next cycle on the 6th. If things go well and there are no set backs, the 4 day per week plan seems better for making bigger gains, provided the recovery is there. Theoretically and in application thus far.

It worked out ok. Not sure if I will do it again, but wanted to give it a go.

    Tonight

    Deads

    325 x 3
    370 x 3
    430 x 3
    485 x 3
    520 x 1
    555 x 1
405 x 8. Did 3 double overhand and 5 mixed. Never got a good grip and not to make excuses, but this wasn't the best bar to DL with.

    Bent Over Row
    135 x 5
    155 x 5
    180 x 5
    205 x 13

    Prone Row

    Leg raise
+15 x 8 x 3 and did 8 more with no weight on the last set

    Stretch

Brian the high rep set was with the slingshot on. The way it was going, I thought I would breeze past 20 reps, but the whole body just shut down. Haha. The rest of the workout was a bit off after that one, make no mistake. Good to be handling 315 for some reps too. I have in my mind if I can do 315 for 5 with the slingshot, I may be able to get 300 in a competition and be back to my high school strength levels in that lift.

    Today
    Incline
    Bar x 15, 5
    105 x 5
    135 x 5
    160 x 3
    185 x 3
    210 x 3
    235 x 3
    250 x 1
    275 x 1
    225 x 5

    Chins
    +25 x 5 x 6
    BW x 10, 8, 8

    HS Pulldown
    Plate + 15 ps x 12 x 3

    Side DB Lateral
    35's x 12 x 3

    Tri Ext
    60 x 15, 12, 12

    BB Curl
    60 x 15 x 2

    Hammer Curl
    40's x 12 x 3

    Stretch

Humid in the gym today. Hotter in there than outside. Faded after the chins, but still got work in.

The closer we get to memorial day, the more hot and humid days are here to stay, no way around it.

Really like what's going on with the inclines guy.
