The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Sitting here as they are warming up for last man standing bench off, so will update on the meet. Weighed in at 219. Got back up to 233.

Squats with knee wraps. All good.

    460
    510
    550

    Bench
    275
    295. Grinder
    305. Better set up, but just moved it off my chest a few inches. Tri's shot

    Deads
    540- light
    610 with belt easy
655- barely for it off the floor, but once I did it didn't feel good. Just had this one in mind and wanted to go for broke. 645 would have got me 1500, but that wasn't happening either. 630, a 10 lb pr would have been a better plan

So 1455 total at 220. 30 lb total pr, 80 lb weight class pr.

Nice work! Insane squats. Bench is getting up there too.

I wanted to do this meet but my lower back is just trashed. I will need to see a doctor probably.

2 workouts this week for deloads. Will hopefully help me recover to get back after it next week.

    Squats
    Bar x 8 x 2
    135 x 5
    200 x 5
    250 x 5
    295 x 5

    Deads
    225 x 5
    280 x 5
    335 x 5

    Good Mornings
    105 x 5 x 3

    Hanging Knee Raise
    3 x 12

Stretch. Lower back still feels pretty jacked up.

Thanks coke. I am thinking about maybe making a transition back to a 5x5 for a few months. Squatting 3 times a week and the such. I'll have to give it some thought. Would like to hit a meet in December and then April if no injuries.

Just two deload workouts and back at it. I may kick myself for this, but am considering Sheiko 29.

Thanks for the kind words. I was pretty happy about this squat.

Thank you my friend. Checked your log briefly and you are someone worth following as well. Respect.

    8/6/12

Started something new. We will see how it goes

    Bench
    Warm ups
    Bar x 10, 5
    95 x 5

    Sets
    150 x 5 x 1
    175 x 4 x 2
    205 x 3 x 2
    220 x 3 x 5

    Squats
    Warm Ups
    Bar x 8
    135 x 5
    225 x 3

    Work Sets
    265 x 5 x 1
    Belt from here on out
    315 x 5 x 2
    370 x 5 x 5

    Bench- 1/2 thumb from smooth
    150 x 5 x 1
    Wrist wraps added
    175 x 5 x 1
    205 x 4 x 4

    DB Flies
    30's x 10 x 3
    20's x 10 x 2

25's would have been the best option for 5 sets. Live and learn

    Good Mornings
    145 x 5 x 5

    Thoughts:

Actually thought this would be more difficult than it was, but was far from easy. Kept a good pace, but not blistering. Workout took 1 hr and 50 minutes, but could get done quicker than that. First round of bench and squats were done in just over an hour. Kind of coasted a bit after that.

    Good eye. It is #29.

    Today

    Deadlifts to knee
    warm ups
    135 x 5
    x 3
    225 x 3 x 2
    265 x 3 x 1

    Work Sets
    305 x 3 x 1
    365 x 3 x 2
    425 x 3 x 2
    460 x 3 x 2

    Incline Barbell Bench
    135 x 6
    175 x 6
    205 x 6
235 x 6. Needed a little help on the last rep

    Dips
    BW 5 x 5

Deads from mats. Stacked up 2 mats. Didn't work quite as good as I hoped. They sagged a lot as the weight got heavier and we had take the bar off of them each time to change weights.

    335 x 4 x 1
    395 x 4 x 1
    460 x 4 x 2
    520 x 3 x 4. The last two sets were more like 2 and 3/4's and 2 1/2. Haha.

    Lunges
    Bar x 5 x 5

    Hanging Leg Raise
    3 x 10

As you can see, I am keeping the accessory work very low weight right now and giving myself time to adjust to this volume.

Moved grip to half thumb from smooth
