Simply put. Acne has always been an issue for me, ever since puberty. Being 21 and still suffering, and breaking out, is annoying. And now that I box, and still have acne on my back, is embarrising. ive tried pro active, ive seen doctors, pills never worked.

I was my face/back 3 times a day, im always trying new washes ect. my sheets get changed 3 times a week. Im at a loss. Any help would be awesome.

Have you seen a dermatologist? I'm assuming you have since you mentioned you've tried pills.

Accutane would probably work as a last resort.

Have you looked into B5 / Pantothenic Acid? That was the only thing that worked for me...

Accutane is the only thing that works..differin works ok, but you will still get pimples. I had mild acne and while it wasnt detrimental to my social life, it was annoying so the doc put me on a low dose of accutane for 3 months and now its cleared. I use differin at night to help rid of scars. Those over the counter products work for 2 months then stop so dont waste ur time.

Assuming you are washing yourself daily (shower) then hygiene probably not an issue but maybe sweat?
I have Back Acne like crazy and it really sucks but I do sweat lot and my body does generate alot of heat. My doc told me this and presrcibed me a cream called PanOxyl Wash.

Apply it everyday with a wet back and then wash it off with warm water. It has helped slightly for me and has taken the sore stinging kind of look away. Spots are still their just not as painful.

Coldblue...Soda won't give him acne. The food/acne connection is iffy at best.

To the OP, It looks like you've exhausted your recourses...I'd say try a different dermatologist. I'm honestly surprised that you haven't been put on accutane. Did they put you on antibiotics?

Antibiotics are good and will heal it right up but you can't stay on them long term can you without having very bad side effects and maybe even liver damage.

I always thought that foods that are real high in fructose corn syrup cause acne. When I stopped drinking soda and eating junk food altogether... within a couple of months I was acne free.

the evidence is mostly anecdotal and the studies done aren't very well controlled...so far there's nothing really concrete showing the link.

The only food I've really thought could cause acne was REALLY fatty stuff like McDonalds or etc...fatty foods means more oil on your skin. I would see a dermo. If it is really as bad as you say it is, look into accutane. Accutane sucks though, and its a long journey.

Fat in food does not contribue to oil production in one's skin.

Before going on accutane try some topical stuff. There can be some pretty gnarly side affects of that stuff.
I had horrible acne on my chest and back, dense pimpes probably within a quarter inch of eachother. Huge ones and small ones. It was quite embarassing. I used a benzoyl peroxide soap (you can get this OTC) differin cream, and a myocin (antibiotic) solution. I had really great results with that stuff. I also used a back scrubbing brush in the shower, I'd load the bristles up with the benzoyl peroxide and go to town. The only downside is that differin is on the costly side, like $30 a month if I remember right, but it really worked well.
Your other option is to use Acnefree, it's cheaper than Pro-active, I believe it's like $20 at Target.

Ive really tried everything man. I could prolly fill my car up with all the different kinds of stuff Ive used. Ive tried everything, and it gets real expensive to keep using that stuff all over my back, and face. My face has gotten better, but my back sucks still. The only thing thats ever calmed my acne, was tanning.

It sucks, cause I box, and i get more nervous about that, then getting punched in the face.

I don't know if there is any scientific basis in this but after I quit masterbating my acne calmed right down.

In my own personal experience, everyone has to find the particular product or products which work for them. Or get hold of some accutane.

In my case, using a scrub with salicylic acid to wash my face followed by an application of a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide gel helps keep my acne under control. Note: under control, not cured. I still get spots regularly, and sometimes really nasty ones, but it's a case of one spot on my face at any one time, as opposed to a whole mountain range.

You say you have tried new washes etc. so you may already have tried these treatments. But these two ingredients: salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide actually do something. You'll probably also have to use them for a certain period of time before you start seeing results. I know that if I miss even a day, I can pay for it later with a flare up. YMMV.

I absolutely love that site. The forums helped me get through highschool... no joke.

I have tried everything from simple creams to antibiotic creams to retinols to oral antibiotics and NOTHING worked. After all the stuff I was using I had severe acne... with cysts and everything. You couldn't even see my face due to all the redness and bumps. I finally went on accutane and I wish I went on it earlier. My entire highschool life consisted me being an anti-social kid simply because of acne. I basically stayed home all day after school and on the weekends and played guitar. I don't care what anyone says, accutane is a miracle drug. Of course it has its risks like any drug but considering that less than 0.1% of users get depressed (which may not actually be caused by the drug itself but rather the acne... trust me) accutane is near perfect. There are close to zero drugs on the market that are able to CURE chronic illnesses like acne. Accutane gave me my life back. I highly suggest trying it.

It has been over 3 years since I was on accutane and my face is just about perfect when it comes to pimples. I get one ore two every 3 weeks and they subside quickly. Maybe once every couple months I get one that lingers but it quickly fades. If there is anything western medicine should be credited for... it's Viagra and accutane.

This is so ****ing ******ed it's almost beyond belief. So, if you eat 3k, you will automatically gain 3k worth of fat or muscle? Incredible. And here I am eating all this food, yet maintaining my weight. Fascinating.

The worst most people get is dry skin/lips and possibly. The side effects are over hyped.

Maybe over-hyped, but still something to consider.

Big +1 to everything BFGUITAR said. Well, except for playing guitar, I played video games.

I was on oral antibiotics, which didn't really work, then the benzoyl peroxide, which burnt my skin (and turned it all flaky), and then finally now on Accutane. I've been on it two weeks now (currently taking 40mg), and I can see a huge difference. I feel much better more confident now, and even though I still get pimples (corners of the mouth, base of the nose, jaw), they are a lot fewer in number and go away quite quickly.

If nothing else has been working for you, try the Accutane.
