when you use the term "arching your back" for standing shoulder dumbbell press how exactly do i do this?
am i spose to be pushing my butt forwards or backwards? i cant find any pictures on the web
to push my butt backwards kinda puts me off balance and pushing my butt forwards feels like im bending my spine the wrong way
I would try to keep your abs and low back tight while doing standing military / push presses.
If you are having trouble with core stability then a weight lifting belt may be helpful.
yeah but i dont know what to do with my spine, how do i "arch"? what direction would you call an "arch"? i could arch it either way thinking about it
asif somebody is sticking their knee into my lower back, pushing it forward and pulling my shoulders back? lower back forward, upper back backwards? or vice versa?
You want to arch your back in towards your stomach, but not to overkill. Just think "really good posture." Humping your back like Quasimodo will get you hurt quick.
i was doing it right then, but it felt un-natural, like i was gonna injure my back, not any pain or discomfort, just thinking that it was the wrong way to stand, like the weight was bending my back even more that way, specially on the last few reps
You tube search for Rippetoe on the standing overhead press. His tip about getting your chest under the bar really helped me.
