The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

a lot of those could have been prevented if they had better technique, didnt use false grips and had competent spotters...

side note: if your spotting someone on the bench, and the bar stops moving, or actually starts going down, dont yell "KEEP PUSHING, PUSH PUSH, PUSH, ALL YOU MAN ALL YOU" its ******ed and dangerous, get the weight off the guy to avoid serious injury. Sure its all him but at that point and time he needs a little more you...

    False grip or thumbless grip?

Some look liked typical misses and others were just ridiculous.

most of those were ****ty spots. when you miss a lift because you're falling out of your groove thumbs probably wont help that much

one of the ****ty spots, the guy got popped in the face by the barbell after he dumped the plates on one side.. that was probably bad.. broken cheek/nose etc

talk about irony -- just finished my workout.. did my set of OH press and let it fall back to rerack and I missed the rack on one side. my spotter caught it. yay for me and for not breaking a collarbone or shoulder.

at least my thumbless grip wasnt to blame.

#2 - Spotter getting hit in the head because idiot didnt put clamps on the bar
#3 - Friend flicking guy benching like 100 pounds in the balls.

    Not by all definitions.

From my understanding false grip incorporates the thumbs:

Thumbless grip is exactly as it sounds.

But this is like the debate between pull-ups and chin-ups and I'll chalk it up to semantics and leave it at that.

At 0:26 secs what's wrong? I don't quite know what's going on there.

The first one was very stupid. Stupid spotter.... He should have known that once the weight is not moving up, it will never move up without help. It's not fun getting trapped under the bar.... lol

I don't have a pic right now but my wife was in a Crime Scene Investigations class (her major is Criminal Psychology) and there were parts where they would go over the different scenes of deaths. One was where some guy had apparently been doing squats or OH presses or something but whatever it was, he messed up and the barrcame down with some big force, severed/crushed his spine and embedded a good 6-7 inches into his body. It's something I tend to think about while doing squats or presses...

the gentleman @ 1:46 is by far the one with the most common sense (and he didn't even have a spotter)
