The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Must have established a minimum Wilks total of 150 (Men); 130 (Women)
Must have successfully completed two attempts in qualifying meet to be ranked. Those completing
three attempts will receive priority selection.

I am contemplating this as well...I am doing my first ever USAPL meet next weekend at the AC Sports Extravaganza...the criteria is not very clear...the above shows some of the criteria...so the question is if I only do one USAPL meet, and not Nationals, and my Wilks score is over 150 and I have 2 successful attempts, would I possibly qualify?? Not asking if I would be a definite entrant, just a qualified potential..;-)

Maybe I'll make it more clear...I'm going into this meet as a 198 Masters 40-44...let's say I lift 480, 500, 520...and this is the only USAPL meet I do...would this alone qualify me for the Arnold??

If you are doing your first USAPL meet & it is a regular local meet then No.
And if your doing full meet raw, then you need a wilks of 400 or better.

They pick first from Nationals, arnolds, matser nationals, push pull nationals......

let me look & better explain

    here ya go:

    Primary selection
     2009 ASF Raw competitor
     2009 Raw Nationals
    Secondary Selection
2008/2009 Raw total in Sanctioned USAPL meet
    Final Selection
2008/2009 Total in USAPL Sanctioned meet
Must have established a minimum Wilks total:
Men: 400 unequipped or 475 geared
Women: 360 unequipped or 425 geared

Basically they fill 50 lifters max based on the hierarchy above.

Are these geared numbers or raw? What event are you planning to do?

Ok, you are gonna have some very tough competitin for 198 bench only. Best bet is to get a meet under your belt and get to Bench nationals next year and try to qualify for 2011 Arnold.

Are you going to bench national this year in Cleveland? If so then may have a chance for 2010 arnold. But will need some Big numbers

    Here is the bench quali:

    Primary selection*
     2009 ASF Pro Bench competitor
     2009 USAPL Nationals (All Nationals)
     Any 2008/2009 IPF/NAPF event completed by October 1st, 2009.
    Secondary Selection
     2008 USAPL Nationals
2-3 lifters per nation in each weight class
     Must have established a minimum Wilks total of 150 (Men);

So basically all you have left for this year to qualify for 2010 Arnold is Bench Nationals (Sept 12-13)...but to go to nationals you first have to have a total in a sanctioned USAPL meet.

What kind of numbers are we looking at??? Not for nothing but right now, on the all fed rankings (Powerliftingwatch.com) I am ranked 3rd...Cieri is #1 with 584...but if I put up 500-540 in a USAPL meet, that should put meet pretty high?? And I think the NJ State record is like 446....

well at 198 ur probably gonna need like mid 500's at least. Cieri has hit iver 600 & I have a buddy(198) whose done 584 this yr already. But Bench nationlas is what matters. Plus thing w/ bench only ur qualification is more based on wilks off all lightweights moore than just ur 198 ranking. ur best to pull up 08 & 09 arnold results to get an idea of what was there competing

I have another buddy that does like 460-470 @148...has took 2nd at worlds & still doesn't qualify based on wilks for arnold. he however, is number 1 at 148 in the nation. Bench is very tough to qualify. U are howvwer at and advantage by being the heavier weight class of the "lightweight" section for arnold
