The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Tone, we are starting with 700. So put on a loose shirt, hit a 700 in the gym and comit. If we can get all the guys to hit their opener we will have a successful show. Remember, this is a bunch of guys getting together for fun. I think our biggest concern is if their is a weight limit at the closest water park.

I think. Don't quite remember the exact workout. We took a trip up to VIP Training today and trained with their crew as well. What a great time. Talked to the owners Brian Reed and Evan Snydman and we hope to make this a regular occurance. It was great to get all these guys together and the push it produced was incredible. I wasn't super happy with this workout but Tim reminded me of the day I had Saturday and also that I haven't deloaded from the shirt in weeks. I'm definitely due. Last week I doubled 740 easily so only singling 755 this week was disappointing to me at first but now that I think about the work I've done lately I'm satisfied. Every Jersey Iron guy hit a PR today. Some incredible lifting by both Tim Gale (his first 500lb bench and he went on to hit 525) and Brian Cain (an AMAZING 615x3/2-Board bench).

    Buffalo Bar/Box Squat w/ Foam/200lbs Chain/Briefs Only
We were supposed to use 50% of our geared squat w/ chain and moved up every 2 sets for 6 total. Instead, I decided to push it a little heavier as the weight I was moving didn't seem to be doing anything for me at all.

    Dropped back to 705 & Added 120lbs of Chain to 2-Board x1

Need to make some changes to the bench program for myself. I have no problems touching so all the board and low end work is easy. My issue right now is my upper end. Need to dump some of the lower end work and add in more 2 and 3-Board lockout work in the shirt.

Nothing to update. Took some needed down time. Elbows feel better, wrists feel better, knees & back feel better. And thanks to Jesse Denton's wife's magical rehab skills, my shoulder no longer hurts. I'll be back to work this week with some Accessories then Saturday I start up again. Been a good deload.

Finally a good squat day. Hopefully Monday's bench workout follows suit. I boiled my bench shirt this morning. Didn't have a pot big enough so Tim lent me his. Thanks buddy! I'd describe the color of the water after the boil (AND after washing the shirt) but I couldn't possible do it justice. Awful. Boiled soapy water in the pot twice before the final clean out to give back to Tim tomorrow.

Every once in awhile I have some internal struggles. In the past, I've posted some of them and I go back and read later and I sound like a gigantic puss. This time I just shut down, pushed through, learned a TON, and came out mentally stronger. Training has been going pretty well. Had a few struggles when my bench shirt gave out but even there I found a way to come out the other side.

I've committed to doing the Last Man Standing Bench Meet. I'm fulfilling that obligation. I bought a bench shirt off of Shawn Lattimer that, while not perfect, will get me through the meet. I know I can hit at least a 750 at this meet because I've doubled it in training. When this is over I'm going back to focusing on competing at the RPS meet on September 9th. I need to be back on the platform at least twice this year.

Sorry to anyone who was following my log. I hope you'll continue to follow me once this meet is over and I start logging my training again.
