    Can i hit 1000 before Jan 1st?

    Hello everyone. long time lurker, first time poster.

    I started doing Starting Strength regularly about 2 months ago, and am quite happy with my results. I used to go to the gym and work out my chest for 14 sets, then bicep curls for 12 sets, and thought i was king. Im starting to realize that compound movements are a bit more...king.

    My question is....do you think i can hit the "1000" club (400 deadlift, 355 squat, 245 bench) before the new year? Im really geeked to think i can hit this goal if my workouts are ALL-OUT and i eat like a horse.

    For 3x5 my workout weight is: (not PRs...haven't had the balls to try those yet)

    Deadlift - 270
    Squat - 225
    Bench - 150 ( )

    I eat plenty, and workout on Mon, Wed, and Fri per SS recommendations...is this a reasonable goal? Thank you for your time.

    P.S. my boner's are more effective now....i love squats.

    i dont think you will be able to reach 1000 by january, that would be insane. Also, i dont understand ur boner statement.

    I wouldnt aim quite that high. Thats adding 100 pounds or more to every lift. You have a little less than four months. thats 25 pounds a month to every lift. I am assuming you are posting your maxes and not your routine lifts? If those are your maxes than you are at 645 total right now. I wouldnt try to make a jump that big, in my opinion thats asking for injury. Thats roughly 5-10 pounds a week increase per lift. If it were me I would set a little different goal, perhaps 800-900 club or give yourself more time for the 1000 club. I personally dont think you should put that much stress on your body that fast. Thats my opinion

    thank you guys for the quick replies. My legs have responed amazingly well (i can usually add 10lbs to the bar on squat every week and still have good form) but my bench has always been a hinderence. my shoulders i think are a major week point for me. But, i will trudge along and hope to hit it maybe in 6months? Even that would be killer.

    He stated in his original post those were his working sets and he hasnt maxed yet.

    The total is ambitious! I agree that it could be pushing it to try for the 1000 lb total by Jan. but setting goals never hurt anyone. The fact that you've only run SS for 2 months could be a good thing. If you stick to your plan and dont plateau then you could definitely be in the ball park. Whatever you do its on you! Good luck
