The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Weight lifting question

whats a good routine to get into when working out? And how long generally is the right amount of time to workout i usually average at about 25-30 minutes when i workout is this too long? not long enough? Also i heard that few sets and a lot of weight is good for adding on muscle i usually do a decent amount of weight and a bunch of sets is that not good or does it not matter?

In the stickies you will find the Starting Strenth (SS) sticky. This is an excellent routine for beginners, which I am currently on. Everybodys workout time will vary. As you get more weight on there you will need a bigger break in between sets. My workouts are around an hour and a half right now. Starting strength will be 3x5 so yes generally a lot of weight with fewer sets is better for building muscle. If you want to tone then less weight, more reps is better. Hope I could help.

Is "toning" not more to do with diet than as opposed to reps. But yeah i agree if your a beginner do starting strength.

remember that every time someone uses the word "toning" God creates a pink dumbbell.
    Height: 6' weight:197
    BF%: ~12%?

    bench: 280 x 1
    squat: 370 x 1
    dead: 360 x 1

    goal: 225 @ < 10% bodyfat

First off...buy a punctuation...a period would be a good start.

Then go check out this thread. It will give you a good place to start building strength and muscle.

Lastly, check out this article. It will give you some basics on how to eat.

I mostly work out 2 or 3 days a week. But, I am currently working out four days a week on the 5/3/1. When things get really tough, I'll be switching back to 3 days a week.

Nice Off Road, I totally respect teachers. We need more people willing to teach people about punctuation and grammar ( and how to train ).

I'm more interested to see you explain this:

I think the word you are looking for is definition as there is no such thing as toning a muscle.
