The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

The look I'm trying to achieve

Here are a few pics of the look I'm trying to achieve. The guy in the pics is 5'11-6'0, 213lbs 48" chest and 18" arms.I personally think that since I'm 5'6.5-5'7" that I could achieve something close to that in a few more years of hard training.Let me know if you think I'm off my rocker.I estimate that I'd have to weigh about 180-190lbs to look like that

Who is the guy in the picture? If I had to guess, I would say that he dabbles in the anabolic arena. That being said, I think you could achieve that sort of look naturally, although it would require good genes and intelligent training.

The general look. If I had to be more specific, I would say the vascularity in the shoulders combined with a relatively low bodyfat, yet a smooth look to his midsection. In other words, he is holding some water, if not, his mid-section would be more defined. Also, you can see water retention in his arms. One last thing, the delts and traps really seem to respond to drug use and his have the "drug" look (to me).

That guy doesn't look too big to me. If I went on AS, I would want to look more like Arnold

I'd so you could look like that naturually by eating a lot and a lot of shoulder work.

I think what's being said is that he has the "look" of being a user, but that doesn't mean that he's huge. He has a great physique, but he's really disproportionate on some things. Chris pointed out the traps and delts.

Notice that really wide, but flat look to his uppers? Kind of like he's two dimensional? Unless he had unusual genetics or a equally unusual training training regimen, it's kind of an unlikelyhood.

Big delts and traps, but a very flat chest. To snag those delts one would probably do more pressing movements and create a bigger chest.

It's a look that a lot of juicing wrestlers and football players (depending upon position) get. I deal with them daily.

All that said, I think a similar physique is attainable naturally, depending on genetics, etc. It's going to take a lot of careful eating and hard work, but you can look damn good if you put in the effort. You might (without seeing you) actually end up being more proportionate. I do know I'd put in a request for his forearms.

    Yeah!

Why is it that drug users have ace delts and traps?

I swear, every user in my has blown up delts and traps. I noticed it not long ago but i didn't think it was too common.

He doesn't look anyway special to me. To me his physique looks typical of lifters who has been doing it for a while and have their diet down.

I think this guy's size is very obtainable without the use of drugs. His BF% is lower than mine, but I'd much rather tackle that problem without a needle. Big Show, honestly, I think you should up your standards a little, and remember that none of us can really aspire to look like someone else. We can only be our personal best. Exploit YOUR finer points, and work extra hard on your problem areas. Focus on that.

One thing, for those of you who are saying that the guy doesn't look very big, I am not sure what you are looking at. His upper body, which is all we can see, looks pretty good sized to me. I don't think his chest or forearms look bad at all. In fact, I think that most of you would be very happy to have his physique.

I'll admit that I'd like to get my bodyfat down to that level, but I'm not too thrilled with his over all shape. I don't know. It looks weird.

I could be misremembering, but I seem to recall reading something to the effect that there is a higher density of androgen receptors in the shoulder area.

I think I remember hearing something like that, too. I was going to say something to that effect earlier, but didn't want to if I was mistaken. You have to also consider that some people 'spot inject' I don't know exactly how that works, though. Mainly because I run away screaming like a little girl everytime I see a needle. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Also about the shoulders on users. I beleive it was belial who noted that most gym goers tend to overtrain shoulders, and when "on" their body will be able to respond to the volume better. That was his idea though. Sounded pretty valid to me.
