The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Had a good workout tonight, first one really since the pec started acting up, only minor dull pain tonight after benching.

    Bench
    bar x a lot
    135 x 10 x 2 sets
    185 x 8
    225 x 6
    275 x 2 x 2
    315 x 1
Shut it down, spotter said my left side looked weaker and moved slower than the right, overall it was fast and easy, but it was enough to let the guy spotting me know there was an issue.

    Pec Fly
    80 x 12 x 2 sets
    130 x 12
    175 x 12

    Tri Extensions
    52lbs x 20
    67lbs x 16
    77lbs x 10

Cable Crunches-both sit up benches were taken, bastards.
    45lbs x 20
    60lbs x 20
    70lbs x 30
    87lbs x 20

Overall a quick workout, with some politics mixed in between sets after benching, kept moving and stayed warm through the whole thing. I'm not really following any set thing right now, I just wanna get back in the flow of being in the gym every other day at least before setting anything up. With the way everything moved today, there's a police/ff meet in December, I may throw my hat in the ring. There's a ff from station 2 that's been talking shit for the past few months.

Holy hell. So after I posted a come back, my damn job goes and blocks WBB, says there's talk about steroids and it's prohibited in the police department. Also blocked another site I was on discussing test injections, as I had been given an RX for them and was to start them instead of the gel, which wasn't working for shit anymore. All legal, so after a long and drawn out mess, I'm cleared to post again reference anything I want, and WBB is no longer blocked at work, bitches.

Did cardio late last night. 1.5 miles in 15:15, then finished off 20 minutes in a nice and easy trot. Will be benching tonight.

Fucking headache was killing me earlier. I popped 3 excedrin and it got a little better. Decided I needed to take advantage of it and do some work.

    Deadlift
    135 x 10
    225 x 5
    315 x 5
    405 x 3
    315 x 5
    225 x 5

    Leg Curls
    170lbs x 10 x 3 sets

    Rows-Machine
    3pps x 10 x 3 sets

    Abs
    Cable Crunches 15 x 2 sets

Didn't do an awful lot, head started hurting again half way through so shut it down. Still felt like I did something other than puss out.

Thanks guys. This weekend did a lot of cardio. No lifting. Walked the dogs several times, went on a few walks with the wife. Monday had a few dr appointments. My TRT doc upped my rx to 100mg/week or 200mg/2 weeks instead of 50/100 like it was. There was talk about a low dose estrogen blocker but numbers came back good, no reason right now. Also got put on a low dose arthritis med for my knees plus taking Joint Fuel, which that alone has made a difference in my flexability and pain level, doc said eventually there will be a surgery, but right now since weight is coming off, just let it play out in time.

I did some events training Monday night.
    Atlas Stone
165lb stone to platform 5 sets 3 reps as fast as possible
    165lb stone squats 5 x 5

    Tire Flips
    10 flips x 3 sets

    Kettlebell Swings
    80lber x 10 x 2 sets

Was quick and easy, just something to get the blood flowing. Off night tonight, will squat tomorrow after work, may do light cardio on lunch or before work.

Good to be back around. I've always favored the journal section around here, and it sucked when I couldn't hang out over here. Looking forward to hitting squats tonight. I've felt absolutely fantastic today. Knees feel great, mood is up, motivated.

1st session: 20 minutes Cardio. 15 minutes LISS on incline, 5 minutes HITT 30 seconds walk/30 seconds sprint.

    2nd session: Squat
    Stretching/Warm Ups
135 x 5 This was a quick set, one of those...yeah it's gonna be a good night sets.
    225 x 5
    315 x 3
    405 x 2
455 x 1 x 2 sets Cut it off here. Didn't want to push too much with the knee and with getting my groove set back. I used my belt tonight on 405+ and it was so unGodly uncomfortable, just not used to wearing the damn thing anymore. Playing with stance width again and balance. First 455 felt high, off-balance, didn't feel right. Still stuck the lift out of the hole quite easily. Both 455 lifts moved quick out of the hole.

    Box Squats
355 x 3 x 2 sets Almost went to 385 for 2nd set but had to remind myself of the knees, even though with the joint meds I've been taking they've been feeling really really good. I did use light sleeves for squats.

    Leg Curls
    200lbs x 6 x 3 sets

    Leg Extensions
    150lbs x 6 x 3 sets

Wrapped it up, figured the knees were feeling pretty good, didn't need to push it too much, especially since I did cardio about an hour before squats.

Plan was for cardio today, but benched instead with a buddy who was in the gym at the same time. The actual bench was taken by swat guys doing their monthly PT testing, so we benched in the squat rack, which ended up not being too awful, got some minor adjustments to make and it'll be decent for solo benching.

Bar x 10 Made adjustments to the safety bars for height, making sure the bar didn't hit off the chest.
    135 x 10
    185 x 6
    225 x 6
275 x 4 x 4 sets 1st set had a little problem with the bar on lift off and racking, the rack was just a tad bit too high, so it involved a bit of pulling and pushing from both parties involved, was adjusted after first set to fix it. All the sets felt great, so my partner stopped here, I through on another 30 pounds for kicks.
305 x 2 x 2 sets Easy, racking was bad on last rep of last set, lost tightness and had to force it up there.

For the accessory work, I pretty much superset everything, was in hurry up mode since time was running short on my lunch break. So each set was done back to back to back, then a short break.

    Tate Press
    35's x 8 x 3 sets
    Straight Arm Pulldown
    72.5 x 8 x 3 sets
    Tri Extension
    55 x 8 x 3

Took a few minutes to catch my breath and relax.
    V-Bar chest pulls
    100lbs x 10 x 2 sets

    Face Pulls
    45lbs x 8 x 2 sets

Typically, it's only one weight session a day. I may do cardio before weights on my lunch for 30 or so minutes, and then do weights after work since I don't like to rush my lifts. Like days on the 13th, I logged the 12ths workout the next day, I forgot/was too tired to do so after the workout.

Thanks Brian. Right now the knees are good. Taking the joint supplement and the NSAID from the Dr, it's going well. We've all been battling a dang stomach virus, and I've been battling a head cold for the past few days that's kicking my ass, I do good enough to drag my ass to work. Probably no lifting this week, MIGHT get some light cardio in if I can get rid of this crappy cough I got going on.

Well, surgery was a success. My procedure was done on Feb 26th, with zero problems. I'm really pleased with everything so far. My Dr. is keeping up with my numbers and expects me to be able to keep a large % of my muscle mass throughout this ordeal. Normal protein intake after surgery is 50-60 grams at this stage, he has me taking in 70-80g a day right now, increasing every 2 weeks.

Weight is down to 316 and falling, inches are coming off and I'm really rocking it so far. I know there's a lot of discrepancy against weight loss surgery, but I'm glad I did it now. Things have been really great.

Right now, only cardio, no lifting until 6 weeks post op, I'm only 3 weeks post, but aching to start lifting again. My cardio is slow, sustained state cardio, usually around 3.0 MPH on the treadmill, but it gets the job done.

Just figured I'd post a quick I'm still alive post and start updating this thing again.

Yeah man, it's been good so far. Looking forward to getting back under the weight, but know it's gonna be a while before I can unleash it again, and gotta take things really slowly.

Just did 3 miles on the elliptical tonight, nothing fancy, just sustained stuff, but it's getting the work done now during recovery that's most important.

Still just rolling with the cardio right now. It's been a slow week for weight loss, but a stall is expected at 3 weeks out. Gonna drop carbs this week and see if I can get it moving again.

I did manage to get in some light lower body work tonight. Yesterday I did some assisted pull ups, bicep and triceps work, nothing heavy just light stuff.

    Tonight:
    Leg Press
    3pps x 10
    4pps x 8
    5pps x 6 x 3 sets

    Deadlift
    3pps x 6 x 2
    4pps x 5 x 2

    Calves on leg press
    3pps x 20 x 2

    Leg Extensions
    130 x 8 x 3

    Leg Curls
    125 x 6 x 3

    Lateral Rows
    3pps x 5 x 2 sets

It all felt pretty light and easy to move. I'm still wanting to get in to benching again, but need to wait at least another week to open up on that.
