The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

First session back at Metroflex, damn I missed that place.

    Bench
    Bar x 10
    135 x 10
    185 x 8
    225 x 1
    235 x 1
    245 x 1
    185 x 8

    Decline Bench
    Bar x 10
    135 x 10
    135 x 10
    135 x 10

IDK wtf to call this...on the bench, you unrack the weight, bring it down, then slide it forward to about your chin, then back, then press...I shall call them bench sliders...sounds good.
    Bench Sliders
    Bar x 10
    Bar x 10
    65 x 10
    85 x 10
    105 x 10

Dumbbell Flys while laying face down on the bench
    30s x 12
    30s x 12
    30s x 12

    Hammer Curls
    30s x 12
    30s x 12
    30s x 12

Triple Fly-Composed of front raise, Y-raise, db fly while laying face down on an incline bench. all 3 of those equals one rep
    15s x 10
    15s x 10
    15s x 10

Everything felt good. I was already sore from Tuesdays workout, but made it through everything today. Had a massage afterwards, felt great. Tonight gonna hit some conditioning in the garage. Excited.

    Two things:
You've have a 250+ bench press in you, I have no doubt in my mind

    and

"bench sliders" sound a little like a JM Press

Thanks man. Yeah the things we do are a lot like JM presses only you're not going straight to that position, you're bringing the weight down just as you would press it, then sliding it across your chest to your chin, then back to your bench spot, and then pressing it. I'll have to take video of it some time, perhaps it's a modified JM or something.

It's a freakin blast. It's electric in there. Just pulling up, seeing guys in the parking lot doing lunges with 225 on their back across a parking lot, benching 405 for reps, just all around awesome.

It certainly does. It just puts this surge through me to grow muscularly and shink fat wise, as it's written on the walls there..grow or die, and die big.

I'm gonna go ahead and say they're JM presses. Focusing solely on triceps, and I read an article stating an alternate way of doing them is to lower the weight, then slide it up to your chin area. But it's all about tricep strength.

Pretty sore still today. Last night I played basketball for about 30 minutes, and did some smaller other things just for fun.

    Front Raises
    Barbell x 10
    Barbell x 10
    65 x 10
    95 x 8
    95 x 8

    Tate Presses
    35's x 15
    35's x 15
    35's x 15

    Log Clean and Press
    100lbs x 10
    100lbs x 10
    150lbs x 5
    150lbs x 5

I was absolutely plastered after this workout. With only 5 hours of sleep, metroflex, then this workout, I passed my ass out at 9pm and slept until noon. Got up and got my wifes tire fixed on her car, finished up my food for the week and was off to work. Feeling really good. Bengay is definitely helping my shoulders, haha.

First big workout in the garage. Absolutely brutal.

    Stretching

    Squats
    Bar x 10
    135 x 5

    185 x 5 x 5 Smoked these, no problem.

    Deadlift
255 x 15 x 1 Each rep done with 1 minute rest in between. The hardest past was waiting the minute.

    Atlas Stones
5 x 5 Smoked these, felt good. Last set started really feeling it in the quads.

    Bent Over Rows
    115 x 6 x 4

    1 Legged Deadlifts
    35's x 6 x 3/each leg

    Spread Eagle Sit Ups
10 x 4 Holy heck these are brutal on the inner thighs.

    This is where I broke.
Barbell Complex-Front Squats, OH Press, Good Mornings, Romanian DL's, Cleans, KB Swings. Done with 65lb barbell. 10 Reps each, 3 sets. I got one set done, and half of the 2nd, it just wasn't gonna happen, I was absolutely demolished.

I feel crazy for eating this much, but I'm getting results. I've probably never eaten clean over 2000 calories in my life. It feels good to have food in my belly and not be starving to lose weight. Definitely feels good come workout time.

I think you are on the right track as I think 2800 calories a day is probably just about right for your size. When I started dieting at 295-300 pounds I started eating 3000-3200 to start with and the weight was coming off. Of course as time went by I needed to cut it down more and more.

What I'm getting at is that there is not a good reason to cut one's calories to 1/3-1/4 of what they were consuming before and not expect some sort of retribution from one's body. It's just too much, too fast.

Yeah, and I'm getting some good results. I'm down 7.6lbs from Thursday already. I know it's because we're just starting working our asses off and the diet and such, and it's not gonna hold up but I'll take it, that's for sure.

Today's diet is gonna be a bit lower calorie wise but more protein. I forgot my damn fish and sweet potatos at the casa. So...sucks. But, I bought a protein bar that should add some good protein and calories in as a replacement just for today. Got a big bench workout coming up tonight, and I gotta jump rope. Hell, I haven't jumped rope in forever. Belly's gonna be jigglin'!!!

    Shoulder Box

Paul Dicks Press is like a JM Press, only you don't go straight to the chin area with the bar. It starts as a regular close grip bench press, once you get to the chest you roll the bar to the chin, then back to the chest, then press it.

    Is Ts Ys

Only difference for me is I do an I, T, then a Y, counted as one rep. I don't do all I's, then all Y's, then all T's.

Feeling really good today. Not too sore after some ETS right after training, and a long sleep, then a hot bath. 1.6lbs away from my first goal loss.
