The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Next time you deadlift can you put some weight on the bar???? Jeez Mark, that looked really easy. It looked like you were good for 530+. Good mini workout too.

Haha, I'll see what I can do. I'm hoping for 545 in August on the platform, that'd make me really happy. If I'm solid with 545 by then, I'll see about a PR attempt on the platform, but don't know how advisable that would be. You work is definitely coming along too bro, seeing some good things.

You will love the bands and your platform sounds like the best idea.......if the hooks or whatever are super strong you will be able to do crazy shit like doubled greens (200lb) for speed or max effort to nail the lock-out and teach you to be fast, very fun.

Wish I had a platform he he.
Yup, gonna make a platform for the squat rack and deadlift soon, gotta get some money saved up for same vacations first, then we'll get the platforms built. I think doing some doubled greens for speed to help with lock out and quickness would be most beneficial for me right now. I do know that the box pulls have certainly helped with lockout and through the knees. My problem with getting past my knees seems to have vanished through 510 so far, likely do to the box pulls as well.

Figured I'd just press a little tonight. Nothing major.

Bar x 10, warm up and speed.
    135 x 10
    185 x 3
    215 x 3
    225 x 2
    235 x 2
    245 x 1

Done, I get to eat carbs today, fuck yeah!!!

Ha, thanks OR. I probably would have done more good just resting up though, 245 felt heavy in my hands last night. Today is rest day, nothing but rest.

Thanks Rory. I'd love to have another 50lbs in there somewhere. It moved quick, I think possibly quicker then 505 did in the past. Felt real good.

Thanks man. That dog there is our 5-8 year old Yorkie rescue we picked up at the Irish Festival back in March. We were told he was 8, vet said from the teeth wear there's no way he's that old, he guessed 5, and he guess pretty spot on with our other dogs, (I asked him how old he thought they were for comparison of his guess ability) so hopefully he's not as old as we thought. He fits right in here, been one hell of a little alarm system for us though, matches up great with our 3 year old yorkie, and the 1 year old don't care as long as he either A) let's her sleep on him or B)plays tug o war/chase with her.

This most work I'm gonna be doing today is moving myself from couch to table, and back. I feel beat down, last week was LONG and brutal. I feel a full recovery day, just lounging around will do me good. But...today is carb day, so may not fit well with the scale. Tomorrow I have ME bench in the AM, hopefully will be rested up enough for that. Hate carb bloat though, sucks. Final weighing on this cycle was 351.6. Total of 23.4 lbs gone. Happy about that. Next stop....340's.

Awesome work Mark! The 510 looked like an opener which would allow you to go for a PR come August.

Thanks man, hopefully I'll be in around 525 by then, and be able to go from there. Who knows.

Thanks john, I'm not entirely enjoying my carb days, getting me a bit sluggish and down, feel strong, just feel blah.

That 510 flew right up. Your deadlift progression is just great. I think 525 is just right around the corner.

Thanks man, it's been fun milking these gains. It just goes to show that once you start hitting accessory work all the time for lifts, it works. haha.

    Metroflex Session

Wasn't exactly ME Bench like I thought, fun none the less

    BP
Warm ups with bar x some
    135 x 5
    185 x 3

    Work, fun work
    210 x 10
    210 x 10
Felt really awesome getting these done, and with ease. No assistance needed at all, went right up

    Decline BP
    135 x 5
    185 x 5
    225 x 5 All easy

    Trap Cable Shrug
    110 x 15
    130 x 15
    145 x 15 x 2 sets
    All felt great

    Dicks Press
130 x 8 x 3 sets Original plan was 8 reps, 6 reps, 4 reps, but 8 went so smooth and quick we stuck with it. Easy stuff, felt good

    Triceps Extensions, laying on ground
40's x 6 x 3 sets. First set was a bit of a kicker, but after that everything went damn smooth

    Dips-negatives
    BW x 5 seconds x 3 reps x 3 sets I'm not a fan, at all.

    Shoulder Boxes
    10's x 10 x 3 sets

Everything flew up today, all reps were great and easy, felt strong. 210 x 10 x 2 felt really great, no hitch or slowness. Really enjoying the progress on the bench.

Haha, it's a big rat, eats everything in the house too, but miraculously only weighs about 14lbs, bastard. Appreciate you stopping in Chris.

They are pretty painful, I think I may have tweaked my right pec doing these, hoping it goes away.

Took a nap after getting in, woke up with a pain in my right pec. It doesn't hurt all the time, only randomly it seems, which makes me thing it's not a tear or anything, just tweaked it a bit hopefully. It's not as bad as it was, but still there. Will baby it until it's gone. Hoping after a goods night sleep with BCAA's it gets better. Few random notes about my session, there was ton of motivation there today. Jonnie Jackson was getting in some work with his crew, that was pretty beast watching that, Matt Lehr was in there, past lineman for the Cowboys, and some MD girls where in there getting in some work. I'd say 70% of the guys in there were fixed on the MD girls, was funny to watch. 1 of those girls though, she was doin some crazy work, made me feel like a wimp.

I'm convinced it's not my pec anymore. I think it's more the armpit area, which is a relief to me. I'm letting it rest for a while, hope it'll heal itself up. If not looks like I'll be headed to the doctor. It does feel better today though.
