The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I wasn't planning on working out, or doing anything today. I'm still sore from the depleted deadlift day. I certainly won't do that again. Did a little ab accessory stuff today.

    Band Crunches
    Elite FTS Strong Bands
    30 x 4 sets

    Spread Eagle Sit Ups
    10 x 4 sets

    DB Side Bends
    35's x 15 x 4 sets each side

    Band Assisted Good Mornings
185 x 6 x 4 Had the bands set up for tension about 3/4 of the way down, helped force to squeeze to get to depth, really hard to keep it tight but worked well.

    Thanks OR.

AM Weight after just a few hours of sleep:350.4 which is a PR, so we're making some progress. What I'm unrealistically hoping for is 346 by next Wednesday morning. My water intake isn't anywhere near what it needs to be, that will be corrected starting today. Got a long long day ahead, not really looking forward to it. Gonna try to finish up redoing the front bushes, replacing lava rocks with white rocks, then gotta mow and weed eat. Wife says she'll mow if I weedeat...hell we bought the self propelled mower for her, at her request...who's used it? Haha. Gonna try to get in a 2nd workout tonight, just light triceps and upper accessory work. Got metroflex in a few hours, ready to SFW!!!!

You'll get there bro, just keep plugging away at it. Stay consistent, I know that's odd me telling someone to stay consistent when I can't even stay on a diet for more than a few months, but one thing is my lifting has been rather consistent, diet or no diet. However, this time I'm gonna stay on it, and keep the pace.

    Bench at metroflex

    BP-Paused
    Bar x 6 x 2 sets
    135 x 6
    185 x 4

    Work Sets
    215 x 3
245 x 3 -2nd rep I stuck about half way up but was able to push towards my head and muscle through it, 3rd rep was fine. On the 2nd rep my elbows flared out a bit and lost tightness, but it's nice to know I have the strength to push through a bad rep now at 245.

Nose Crushers-like skull crushers only with barbell to the nose.
    Bar x 12
    65 x 12
    70 x 12

    Medium Bands Paused
    Bar x 3
    65 x 3
    75 x 3
95 x 2.5 Last rep sucked, got stuck midway with the bands, not cool. Had a little bump was finished the rep.

Scapula Retraction superset with reversed dumbbell flys
    120lbs x 15 S.R. + 15's x 15 flys x 3 sets

    Front Raises
    30 x 5/arm
    40 x 5/arm
    50 x 5/arm

Weird Dumbbell Fly/Stretch/Hug thing...do a long stretched out dumbbell fly, then as you bring the dumbbells back up you cross your arms like you're hugging yourself, do the fly, then hug with the opposite hand on top this time...so if right hand is on top 1st rep, left hand comes on top 2nd rep. fly, hug, fly, hug = 1 rep
    15's x 6 x 3

Workout was great, felt really really good. Was awesome hitting 245 x 3, I'm psyched about getting closer and closer to 300lb bench.

When I got home, did yard work. I'm replacing rocks in the flower beds, going from nasty black rocks to white shiny rocks. This is a huge PITA to do. Got all I could done there, then mowed and weed eated the yard. Thank God my wife helped, I was feeling completely drained, hour long session at the gym then 3 hours of yardwork with no rest makes Marky a dead tired boy.

Thanks man, it's really frustrating. I really enjoy these forums, I'll even say I love the damned things. Love coming here checking up on the crew, some general non penis threads are awesome. The recipes were great while they lasted, some power lifting threads are good, it just needs some revamping of the enforcement/food chain type stuff. I'm hopeful I guess.

It was really interesting. Hadn't done several of the things but they sure felt like they were working. Nose Crushers are nothing short of amazingly awesome.

Thanks Chase, appreciate you stopping by, as always.

Weight this morning 350.0 Seriously?!! Rawr. It's moving, I guess that's something to be happy for. I usually have a low loss the day after busting my ass, then the next day there's quite a bit of a loss, we'll see if this follows suit. I feel better about the weight loss now after talking to Rory about water weight after a long hard day or physical activity, so weighing everyday has helped keep me centered and helped let me know what does what. I did eat some pepperoni last night, a protein bar, and some almonds before bed, figured I would have gained weight instead of the .4 ounce loss.

    Thanks Coke.

    Squat Day

    Warm Ups
    Bar x 10
    135 x 8
    225 x 5
Warm ups all felt unusually pathetically easy. I could have repped 225 with some ease.

    Work Sets
    305 x 3 Smoked it
    345 x 3 Smoked it
375 x 3 Smoked first two, about a 2 second pause at top, smoked 3rd. I don't even think any reps slowed down after coming outta the hole at all, maybe a tad, but not like usual.

    Pause Squats
275 x 5 x 2 sets. On the last set, last rep, I stayed in the damn hole for 5 seconds. After these sets my legs were shakin. I wanted to do a set of 20 rep widowmakers to finish things off, that'll have to wait.

Glute Hams in squat rack using hands to get back up.
10 x 2 sets Just wasn't feeling it. Need a substitute for these at home.

    Briefcase Deadlift
135 x 3 x 3 each arm. These were pretty easy yet brutal all in the same. I did one side, jumped to the other side and did those reps, rested 30 seconds, did it again.
185 x 0 both sides. My grip wasn't up for it. I broke the ground with my right hand, but it started slipping. No chalk tonight, just didn't break it out. Hands still sore from gardening. Luckily I scored a deadlift deload this week, I say luckily but I know I'll add extra reps in at the light weight, bastards.

Done for the morning. Going to bed soon, pretty tired. Weight was 352.6, up 2.6lbs through the day, I know it's not a good number to weigh mid day, but I'm stupid. Hope tomorrows weigh in drops it at least back down to 350.
